Which GAP insurance and is SMART insurance worth it?
Hi,
I have never bought any of these products before and was wondering what GAP to consider out of RTI VRI and FCH. I have got myself a PCP with 1k deposit down, 19% discount off the retail price of the car and was wondering if anyone could advice what would be the best GAP option to pick. Has anyone bought SMART dent & scratch insurance before? Is it worth getting? Currently looking at Car2cover and ala and was wondering if anyone has used them before? Cheers |

ALA GAP Insurance is well rated and they normally always offer 5% or 10% off discount codes. A few have used on here, including me, I've never had to claim though.
Also do price match. |

Given the chances of needing to claim on GAP are pretty negligible, I only go for finance gap, ie enough to clear the PCP. The idea of paying a higher premium to potentially be in a better position than pre-loss is to my mind not insurance, it's speculation.
If you want to gamble another £100 by all means go for RTI or VR. I find SMART is good value but I seem to be a magnet for flying stones |

Mention the F30 Bimmerpost forum for 10% discount on an already competitive premium from Frank Pickles.
Replacement vehicle cover for me. If the pound drops any more and discount rates drop well below 22% the invoice value of my current vehicle is not going to cover the cost of the replacement Gxx model in two or three years time.

I went with Car2cover. Got an online discount and it's a 4year policy RTI for £190.
Seemed pretty good to me. I'm sure there might be cheaper but not by much. |

Check your policy. What is the upper limit on claims?
