Which GAP insurance and is SMART insurance worth it?

Hi,

I have never bought any of these products before and was wondering what GAP to consider out of RTI VRI and FCH. I have got myself a PCP with 1k deposit down, 19% discount off the retail price of the car and was wondering if anyone could advice what would be the best GAP option to pick.

Has anyone bought SMART dent & scratch insurance before? Is it worth getting?

Currently looking at Car2cover and ala and was wondering if anyone has used them before?

Cheers

ALA GAP Insurance is well rated and they normally always offer 5% or 10% off discount codes. A few have used on here, including me, I've never had to claim though.

Also do price match.

Given the chances of needing to claim on GAP are pretty negligible, I only go for finance gap, ie enough to clear the PCP. The idea of paying a higher premium to potentially be in a better position than pre-loss is to my mind not insurance, it's speculation.

If you want to gamble another £100 by all means go for RTI or VR.

I find SMART is good value but I seem to be a magnet for flying stones

I never see the sense in choosing RTI rather than VRI

Mention the F30 Bimmerpost forum for 10% discount on an already competitive premium from Frank Pickles.

Replacement vehicle cover for me. If the pound drops any more and discount rates drop well below 22% the invoice value of my current vehicle is not going to cover the cost of the replacement Gxx model in two or three years time.

I went with Car2cover. Got an online discount and it's a 4year policy RTI for £190.
Seemed pretty good to me. I'm sure there might be cheaper but not by much.

Check your policy. What is the upper limit on claims?
