Will the disks need attention??
Noticed this mark on my drivers side front disk:
Car has not even been for it's first service yet and done just over 15k miles. I ran my finger over it and I cannot feel it but it won't rub off either. Bit crap if I need to get the disks and pads replaced at it's first service (not covered in service pack) What's your thoughts people?

Something must have got trapped behind the pad to cause that. Whatever made the mark, I would say you should have the pads removed to check there is nothing there. If all is OK then it should fine to put back together. The mark will eventually wear out. Definitely not worth replacing an entire disc for that, especially as they should be replaced in pairs, with new pads... expensive.
If it did not go away or got worse then you would need to replace them. |

If it doesn't catch your finger nail then it will probably get scrubbed off by the pads in a few hundred miles. I wouldn't be surprised if this is down to a very small piece of tarmac that has been trapped/embedded in the brake pad at some point.
Worst case you could have the front discs skimmed on the car. They only take a very small amount of material off with a very fine cutting tool.

If you can't feel it, then whatever piece of road gravel that has got between disk and pad will probably not be on planet earth any more. I'd guess it will have had a negligible effect on the braking power, though front brakes do most of the work.
Your car will be serviced soon. You could mention it, but the cost of taking the pads off and maybe replacing sets of pads seems a bit overkill. |

It's some relief to hear that it's probably more superficial than damage to the disk.
The winter wheels will be off in a month or so, I'll take a closer look then. Might take the caliper off too.
