I agree, the 3 series only really feels comparable to a C class (even a base one almost) when it has the full leather dash like the M3 otherwise I'm not a fan. It does however look like they upgraded the leather on standard steering wheel. Unless it's just me, every 3 series I've sat in (not including Msport as that steering wheel is my favorite) has been a kind of rough leather? Where as Audi and Mercedes even in their A3 and CLA have a very fine grain leather on their wheels?

There really is no excuse for BMW not to come up with a better quality interior for the next generation 3er. While you could option the interior to make it look of quality (walknappa dash) even the base c-class interior is leaps and bounds over the 3-Series.

I think Mercedes caught everyone by surprise with the c-class, even caused Audi to reportedly redo a few things on the next A4 so I would be very surprised if BMW didn't do more than they've done in the past.

Well, I don't know about that. The S-Class has been on the market for some time and look at the new 7 Series, nothing to write home about.

I think BMW is overstretched, both in terms of man power and budget. They will milk the cow for as much as possible before addressing anything seriously.

I agree because I'm in the camp that loves the new S-Class but the new 7er isn't bad, it's more preference - one does luxury in the traditional way (S-Class) while the other does it in a more modern way (7er). The 3-Series, in my opinion, is way off the C-Class and is starting to look outdated only halfway through it's cycle. I'm not expecting the next 3er to go luxury the Mercedes way but a lot needs to be done that it doesn't look cheap when compared to it. The 6-Series is something I would expect from BMW - it's luxury but in a sporty way so if BMW can do something like what they did with the 6-Series it should be fine.

Time to remove the plastic now that Mercedes has upped the ante.

Why can't I get Mediterranean Blue with M Sport??? Seems so stupid to restrict the colors you can get if you're ordering your own car...

The retaining system. Can be arranged in various ways to retain things so they don't fly around.

Has anyone seen Platinum Silver Metallic in person?

If so, what were your impressions? Is it close to Space Gray?

I also posted this question in the other forum.

I've looked at dealer photos of cars in their inventory in this color, and that helps, but not the same as seeing in person.

Thanks
Bruce
