EBII (Estoril Blue II) touch up paint not available in the US?

I ordered a bottle from the BMW website and got an email from my local dealer saying that the paint is not being imported to the US due to OSHA labeling issues.... Anyone else run into this issue??

Yep.

Pretty pissed about it too.

This paint seems to be extra chintzy/brittle. I have quickly gotten a couple pretty big chips without any kind of real debris being thrown at the car.

Seems like the only option is getting some made at the body shop.

Yeah I'm going through my paint guys now (I'm a MB service advisor). I got a small chip on the driver side lower lip ....
I never had this issue with my old Mercedes and my driving habit/pattern hasn't changed....

Other than that I love the car and have to keep my enthusiasm hidden at work !!

I got a two chips already. I know that it's never a good idea to repair it yourself though. Took me 2 cars to learn that. don't even try!

This is slightly off topic, but I didn't want to start a whole thread for a stupid question. I chipped the paint off by trying to lift up the wiper blades when I was washing my car.

Is there a way to lift them up to clean the glass below it?

Had that on my z4, it's costly though if you get it professionally done. Does a good job of protecting though, that plastic is tough!

What areas of your car did you get it it? Was it done by a local shop or your dealer? If you dont mind sharing what your cost was.

Not sure if it just for the M-sport bumper but i was under the impression that it was specifically cut to fit the car. In the picture it does not look that way.

i got it done at a local shop. i only did the front end, as that's the area more prone to rock chips. they do have pre printed wraps for like 250-300 bucks or so but you will see all the seams and they dont tuck in on the edges.

mine was a custom wrap job. so u cant see any seams and all the edges are tucked in,...grills removed and wrap tucked behind so really u wouldnt even know its there. custom jobs range from 600+ depending on what u want done.

Too bad about how working on that for a living causes really bad hair swirls...

Well yes you can see it............but give it 6 months in the sun when it yellows and is full of stone marks that don't even mark the paint. Then when you come to remove it it pulls the paint with it. Been there done that, I'd live with the stone chips and cost in a respray if needed.

I never park my cars in the sun. Always garaged somewhere. If I have to park, I go at night. All my cars have the clear bra and none of them have turned yellow and nasty as you describe. Worst I get is black tire marks on them but clay it off.

Hmmm, I've had the clear bra for 8 months on my F30 and it still looks brand new. It is only visible at the line where it stops on the bonnet.

I advise everybody to get this on their cars. It's so amazing - no stone chips on the bonnet after high speed highway drives. It's a total must even though it's slightly expensive..

Yes...with the ignition off, pull up on the wiper switch for approx. 3 seconds. They will cycle once and then stay in the up position. You will then be able to flip them out.

To return to normal, flip the wipers back down against the windshield and then, with the ignition on, push down on the wiper switch once and it should return to their normal resting position.

This is also in the manual under the wiper section I believe as well.
