Replacing Halogen Foglight with LED Bulb! NO Flicker?

Has anyone replaced their Halogen Fog-light Bulbs with LED Bulbs, and experienced no flicker after proper coding??

Don't want to have to use load resistors (get too hot).

I have some JDM 8th Generation LED bulbs with LED Drivers, but they still flicker when OFF.

Sounds great, what Fog Light LED bulbs did you use? and he didn't install any load resistors?

I have the same bulbs in my car now, no flicker at all after coding when on or off.

Hi RarScary!

The JDM 8th Generation right?

Ok, this is good news, maybe I have mine coded wrong? Which specific codes did you use? and you didn't have to add resistors right?

I would love to get this flickering to stop.

I hope it's not anything to do with how they code the 4 series?

Sorry I can't help you out! I had someone else do the coding. All I know is that he coded out the warm/cold checks for the light. The checks are what cause the flickering when the car sends out voltage to make sure the light isn't burnt out. The LED's can run on such little power, they accidentally fire when the car checks, and then the returned voltage to the car computer is lessened which makes the car believe there's a bulb that's out.

Thanks RarScaryFrosty!

Yeah I coded out the warm and cold checks for the bulbs, and set them to LED.

Even tried changing the PWM voltage to 100%, but no luck?

Would you happen to have the email address for the person that coded them for you, maybe I could just ask him quick question?

I'll see if I can contact him. For some reason his account was banned on these forums, and I can't find out why.

Can't you just run a cooler halogen to get the same affect with more light emission?

Do you have a recommendation of which halogen?

Yeah was hoping I wouldn't need those, and could just get them to work through coding. Alas, I may have to, I double checked all my coding, and it seems correct, and they still flicker.

Perhaps it is the bulb. My seventh generation never had that problem. Would the vendor send you a new set of bulbs?

Mine are in the foglight position, i think the fogs receive some current on their bus even when warm and cold check are coded off. At least thats what it seems like in my case? Unless there is another set of cold checks i need to turnoff?

Hey there thanks for responding. I will check that out. Were you using them as foglights? Also, were yours the led bulbs only, or did it have an led driver (dongle - little box) attached?

No worries. Mine did not need the little box or resistors. They were plug and play right in the fog lamp housing.

Ok so it seems the box is probably what is throwing it off, hmmm??
