Adding Audi/VW Bag Hooks
The first mod I did to my e90 and again on my F30 was to add Audi/VW bag hooks.
These hooks screw into the top of the trunk compartment and are hidden out of the way when you don't need them and fold to hang your bags on so you can corner, accelerate, and brake without getting your groceries all over You can find these hooks about anywhere. I bought mine off of amazon here: Amazon. At the time i bought them they where $7.29 with free Amazon Prime shipping! Once you get the bag hooks throw away any mounting hardware. To attach these i used some self-tapping tech screws I had around. These had a 1/4" head and worked fine without a need for washers. Here is a picture of the screws i used: View post on imgur.com As for placement you want them to be forward enough to be easy to fold down and use but far enough back to not interfere with the trunk floor latch that keeps the false floor up. For the driver side hook there is a bit of metal that is a bit lower than the rest of the trunk roof. I found that if you place the hook all the way to the front of this metal peice then it lines up perfectly. This makes the hook stick out about a 1/4" from the roof but still under the rubber seal. This clears the floor latch and works out nicely. View post on imgur.com The passenger side i just eyeballed the location similarly to driver side. View post on imgur.com The screws i used are self tapping so just use a drill to tap and put in place. Make sure to not over torque. This will hold even the heaviest of bags securely. The results are awesome, out of sight, and functional! Looks like OEM equipment as well. Very cool - thank you for posting
I had hooks like this in my CLS 63 (standard from factory), and I really miss them compared to the F30 trunk hooks. These hooks can definitely hold a lot more than the F30's hook.

Thanks for this, I will definitely look into doing this. Use the boot hooks all the time but they do not hold enough groceries when buying for the family. Thanks again and great pics of the work.

I installed these. It was very easy with a cordless drill and a 1/4" hex screw bit.
I used #8 3/4" self tapping screws. The threads of the 5/8" version are too short to secure. |
