How'd you guess? Only ONE service writer was honest about it so far not that I'd go there for a set....

I've had these tires on for about 6 months now and really like them, much more than the Pirelli Cinturatos that came with the car.
Got it, so it is not OEM size. The AS 3+ ZP really has very limited sizes.

How does 225/40R18 fit on the OEM rims?
Yeah, they don't come in the OEM size (for my trim at least). 225/40 would be a bit too small, it'd be smaller than 245/40 which is already slightly smaller in rolling diameter vs. the OEM size of 225/45. I'd recommend 245/40 if you're going to try the Michelins.

The issue was that this was my daily driver with no spare and I put a lot of miles on it. Due to this I was still considering run flats again but if they were anything like the P7's I was going back to non run flats. I talked to the tech at the tire store and he said hands down the best run flat was the Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3+ 245/40 ZR18. After much discussion I decided to give them a try. Right after I put them on I felt a HUGE difference. Excellent dry and wet adhesion, low road noise and very good performance like I was used to. I am not saying they are as good as the Super Sports but they are very good for a run flat. I now have 9000 miles on them and have been impressed. Plus they are a good looking tire and don't really look like an all season, not to mention they have a 30,000 mile warranty to boot. If you need to go with run flats I would recommend them.
Cool! I do want to stay with run flats so this is a great recommendation. Thanks for this. My dogshit Conti summer runflats are wearing down pretty good and those tires suck, so definitely worth looking into.
How much did a set + install set you back, may I ask?

Chances are I'll never have need for any of that, but I'd rather have them and not need them than the other way around. I'm undecided on what to do when it comes time to get new tires, but TBH the Conti RFT don't feel or sound any worse on my 328 than Michelin MXM4 did on my 07 Altima.
I carry a portable air compressor and a little mini tire patch kit so I can do the same. The air compressor is just handy because I can keep my tire pressure at optimum or change on a whim without having to deal with the ridiculous and inaccurate air machines at gas stations. Love that little thing.

Well this is good to hear. This is my second winter with our BMW that still has the Pirelli Cinturato RFT's on it, and they must have lost enough tread between last year and now that they're downright scary in the snow.

I was a repeat customer of DWS's on my Saabs but was leery of some of the reviews I've been reading from BMW owners saying their sidewalls are TOO squishy. I'd love to reduce some of the crashiness of the ride, but don't want to sacrifice too much handling. Did you find that compensating with a few extra PSI helped?

For the 245/40 18 +install and tax out the door everything included it was $1031 but they were having a special where you got a $200 visa cash card rebate so I really paid $831.

I definitely want to get rid of these run craps but I'll wait until it wears down a bit more.

Maybe I'm not as fussy. P7s on my 2016 228i base coupe have 36,000 care free miles. Never had another tire on this car. The tires run a bit hard...now with 36,000 miles the tires "hum"

I never had an issue with the P7 Cinturato summers on my 320i zsp. They weredef better than my current contis

I had DWS on my 2007 335i and I use them as winter tires on my M4. I don't need dedicated winter tires as that car is never driven in the snow but is sometimes driven in cold weather.

I do not find them to be too squishy and neither do pro racer friends who have driven my cars. For maximum grip you need a certain amount of sidewall flex (Google "Slip Angle"). On the 335i the DWS were superior in every way to the OEM RFTs.

Yes, superior in every way.

I wonder if this comparison was confused because DWS 06 are considered to have less steering response and are slightly more comfort oriented then other top tier Ultra High Performance A/S tires - not compared to run flats, which would all be quite a bit off from any decent non run flat performance oriented tire.

Ultra stiff sidewalls have some serious shortcomings. Watch some camera footage of a tire during some real track driving from some top tier performance or track tires.

In other words you'd rather be Mr. Late than Late Mr. Good choice.

I didn't hate the P7s as much as others in this thread do, but I still switched to Conti go-flats after 35k miles. I might try the Michelin's in OP's post for the next change....go-flats or runflats, whatever fits my wheels.

Yes, next time I'd rather have better tires that suit my personal needs and would gladly be late to one appointment over it I'd also use something to repair the tire in question so I might not end up being late after all! These tires skip through curves, slide in the rain and they're just down right shit in the snow. The ride is not even worth mentioning but I too might try other types of run flats.

I think the best run flats I ever had were the Michellin. Lighter than Bridgestones. Felt like non RFT tyres.

Lowering the weight will totally make a difference with your ride comfort, even just a couple pounds will have a benefit. Switching from RFT P7's on 397 wheels to Michelin PS4S with Arc-8's loses 48 pounds unsprung and makes an incredible difference in control and comfort. I would be interested to feel the ride of a car with RFT's and lighter wheels, might be a good compromise.

These run flats are the worst driving ever... I've been driving for 37years and maybe once had to use a can of fix a flat on a flat tire and I definitely don't go easy on my tires no matter what they are... never changed a tire and these days road side assistance for worse case scenario.... so my suggestion to all is get a "Slime flat tire kit" on amazon for $20 then go get some Michelin PSS..... That's what I'm doing.....
