I just searched and surprised no one has posted this yet.

Quote:
Report Receipt Date: MAR 31, 2015
NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V189000
Component(s): FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE
Potential Number of Units Affected: 18,054

Manufacturer: BMW of North America, LLC
SUMMARY:
BMW of North America LLC (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2014 228i Coupe, M235i Coupe, 320i, 320xi, 328i, 328xi, 335i, 335xi, ActiveHybrid 3, 328xi Sports Wagon, 428i Coupe, 428xi Coupe, 435i Coupe, 435xi Coupe, 428i Convertible, 428xi Convertible, 435i Convertible, 328xi Gran Turismo, 335xi Gran Turismo, and 2015 428i Gran Coupe, 428xi Gran Coupe, and 435i Gran Coupe vehicles. Improper nickel plating of components within the fuel pump may result in the fuel pump failing.
CONSEQUENCE:
If the fuel pump fails, the vehicle may stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash.
REMEDY:
BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin April 30, 2015. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
NOTES:
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Interesting.

I wonder if this is a quality control issue, or if BMW made some design change going from '13 to '14 that didn't work.

I find it weird that it says "2015-2015 BMW 428i Gran Coupe, 428xi Gran Coupe, 435i Gran Coupe" are affected but production date range is "NOV 26, 2013 - MAR 03, 2014".

Wow. Had this issue on my E90 335i. I thought the HPFP issues were resolved. Anyone know what's going on with the F3x fuel pumps?

I can almost guarantee that this recall isn't for the high pressure fuel pump, this recall must be for the low pressure pump. Check out my thread below:

Wow. How long did it take to replace that pump? Anyone root-cause the problem? Is it manufacturing defect or design?

I went thru the HPFP problems with the E90. Now a LPFP in the F-chassis. Who knew there were 2 fuel pumps in these cars. Remember the old days of one mechanical pump bolted to the side of the old V8's.....

My E92's high pressure pump failed twice and low pressure failed once.

So my car is a 2014 MY but was built in August 2013, and the recall is for cars built after Sept 13th 2014. What has changed on Sept 13??? Can't find the low pressure fuel pump on Real OEM.
