Looks like a nice step up from previous models.
Pretty good signs, the interiour of the previous E6*, E70, E9*, it was really on time they brought something new to the table, a modern, stylish, yet good looking interiour with a high(er) end feeling.
And if the new 1'er if a sign for things to come, these new models are very welcome!

I wonder if this "fixed" nav-screen means that BMW can't do what they do with the 5-series and X3 now... i.e. they give you a small screen if you don't order Nav and the big screen if you do?

Why would it? They can just have a wider bezel for the smaller screen.

I'm speaking about the brand new 1-series that came a few months ago. Not the previous generation. The new 1er isnt available in US yet.

PS the new 1er have soft plastic.

Still don't understand why they couldn't have embedded the screen in the dash, for BOTH idrive and nonidrive versions. I've always equated center stacks with huge holes at the bottom (for crap and more crap) with mainstream autos like Honda Accords and Civics. I REALLY was hoping for a carbon copy of the 5 interior.

About the cupholders... they better have some cover/lid. I cannot stand visible cupholders in any car.

I complained about the e92 interior when it came out as well. I still bought the car as it drove the best. When I sit in an e46 now, it amazingly feels like the "newer" interior. I definitely don't "want" the e90 interior. And I just bitched about the f30 as well. Really was hoping for the fluid lines of the 5 series.
