Is it normal to get a warning while coding?
I tried to do the door lights on reverse, came up with front light sensor failure the engine management light. A few seconds later it was all cleared no lights or errors.

When coding FEM (Front Electronic Module) yes, because the ECU restarts, disconnecting a load of monitored signals.

Is it only the FEM coding that needs ECU restarting?

Why did I choose FEM as the first thing to code? I’m going to go code crazy when I’m back from my travels.

Because it's first on the list
We've all done it... don't worry - exactly the question I asked myself first time I coded!

Even so it's still only FDL coding; for VO coding you'd need eSys or a list of all the FDL changes needed to enable enhanced Bluetooth (don't know what these are!)

Ordered an adapter last night after reading all these posts on here!
I'm picking up my F30 in just over a week so I thought in the meantime I'd practice on the car I'm part exchanging (F10 2012). Being my first attempt at coding, it was a little scary initially but once you get over that it's fine I've only coded 2 things so far (Fold mirrors on lock & Digital Speedo) I noticed that the list that come up is different to the demo version and also from what some of the guys on here have said. I didn't have a FEM ECU option come up. I was able to find the folding mirrors option here: Car Access System (CAS4_2) Expert Mode 3003 FH_Master KMFRT_SCHILIESSEN Looking forward to doing more coding in the new car soon! Kit used: Vgate iCar 3 Wi-Fi OBD F10 520d iPhone 6

I just managed to brick my ASD module with Bimmercode. I've coded lots with the app previously and it has worked really well, much less hassle than using the laptop. BUT after making a few separate changes to ASD I got an error and it failed to write the change to the ECU. The ASD module then vanished completely and ASD stopped working - nothing would bring it back. In the end I needed to physically disconnect/reconnect the ASD module in the boot and it finally returned. It does make me much more wary of it though as if the same had happened when coding one of the other modules things could have been far worse.

This happens with eSys sometimes too.

Tried coding the wife's cooper s but it turned its self off and refused to start until I restored all the original files. Didn't think it worked with the engine off but thankfully it did

Do you just use the "update data" option on your current app or do you have to download the latest version of Bimmercode app? Thanks in advance Stampy. |
