most people say its not hard, but you do need to take that front strip above the grill and below the hood off

You posted this at the perfect time - I actually just swaped out my stock grills for the black M Performance grills yesterday. I'm not going to lie, I was a bit nervous about doing it myself but it was as simple as could be. I followed the DIY guide that was posted on these forums (someone posted the direct link right in this thread) and it was written and described extremely well in that post. If you follow that exactly you'll have no issues at all. Just make sure you have the Torx t20 and t30 tools needed (which I picked up at a local hardware store for $4 each) and the rest is a breeze. After completing this install myself I am shocked that I would have paid (probably a decent amount of money) to have someone do this for me. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I was prepared to pay the $130+ tax and shipping to order these and install myself, but when I saw at ordering yesterday that I could just pay $170 and have them installed at port, I opted for that. I honestly thought it would be much more expensive to get BMW to do this.

Did these myself. Was a little hesitant, but easy if you follow the DIY. Plus if you do it yourself, you get to keep the original grill, as opposed to having it done at the PDC

I bought them myself online, and am having dealer install when my car arrives [hopefully] next week. They are returning my original grills back. They are charging me 1/2 hour labor to drop them in, which is a lot of money given how simple it looks, but I'm the kind of guy who would inadvertently snap a clip or do some other damage if I did it myself, so I'm happy to pay for the peace of mind. Plus I'd have to buy 2 torx wrenches that I don't already own, which mitigates the price by at least $6.

I did this myself a few nights ago and I will tell you....it's about as easy as filling a glass up with water. I was laughing at how easy this was

they do pop out if you pull them hard enough. I did it in the parking lot of the dealership, nothing broke and I popped in the black ones. There is no reason to pop the hood or take anything apart. It literally took 30 seconds.

OT

Any of you want to sell or swap your modern line silver for regular black grills?
