bad idea to buy a used JB4?

Someone is selling a used JB4 in my area. just wondering if that's a bad idea or should go new? I'm new to tunes and still reading about it. here's the ad:

I'm debating between the used JB4 or new N55 stage 1...basically same price.

BMS does not provide warranty or support for used tuners, and there have been various hardware changes, so it's hard to know if you're even getting the latest thing. I'd avoid used if you're new to the scene and may need professional help.

Aggree.

Buy the tune your heart makes you buy. You must have a clue of where you plan to end up, tune wise.
The price difference isn't bad.

Thank you all for your responses. I think I'm going with the N55 stage 1 since this is my first BMW and tune

I love the stage 1. Put it on 2 days ago and couldn't be happier!

The majority always end up wanting more. We all say XX increase in power will be enough in the beginning

I bought two used ones and neither one works. Definitely get a new one if you plan on sticking with JB4. And definitely stage 2!
