* Unfortunately, the BMW Connected App features can only be actively used in BMW vehicles equipped with special option code “6NR”, which will be available from March 2011.

The BMW Connected app features in-car access to webradio, facebook, and twitter integration (see 1-series LCI video featuring this HERE), as well as iPod integration featuring Apple's custom iPod navigation interface for the BMW iDrive screen. You can also use the app to attain certain car information such as remaining fuel, miles to empty, etc.

It is a bit annoying that my 6 month old 3 series won't be able to work with this, however that app itself is pretty cool, the web radio streaming bit works quite nicely.

there is a poor mans way to stream pandora, etc. Just stream it from your phone/iphone and pug phone into aux jack for sound.

6NR is available now - post 9/2010 builds for the F10 and e9x M3's...not sure about other models tho

Europe had this weeks ago in the app store.

Just annoying that it's on all "future" 2011 vehicles. If you're bringing it to 2011 vehicles, bring it to all of them.


I really have a hard time fathoming that they can't get software they just built to software they already have without another piece of hardware. You would think this would function on all e9X models with the newer >09 navigation system.

If this iPhone App won't work with any currently existing car, and no cars have yet to be manufactured with 6NR, can someone please explain why BMW has released the App three months before anyone can use it?

It looks like I'll be doing the 2011 IDrive update or something. This is the first time that I've become irritated about an available option on a newer car. Itunes could have been integrated long ago!

since BMW appears to be in bed with apple, I doubt a Pandora app will be available - they have to sell more itunes!

This has to tie in to the "combox" that is in the newer BMW cars from September Production onward. As a BMW sales person, I am not aware of the 6NR option and BMWNA did not release any information regarding this application.

Hmmm, aside from the iphone specific apps, the remainder look to have the icons and colors of the BMW Assist menu when you connect to BMW Search. I know they have updated content on there before....
