Cleaning wheel wells
Nothing bugs me more that detailing the car, having it look perfect but having wheel wells look dirty regardless of how I try to clean them.
Does anyone have any tips, tricks, or recommend a specific product to bring back the black to them?

Having the proper tools on hand helps... I like to spray the wheel wells with an all purpose cleaner like Meguiar's D101 and then use the Full Size EZ Detail Brush to scrub them clean. Once they are dry, you can then wipe them with a water based dressing like 303 Aerospace Protectant to restore that deep black look to them, but this will be temporary as this area does get dirty very quickly. Thankfully the dressing is very easy to wipe on after each wash if you prefer.

Sounds like you need some Sonax Full-Effect. For really baked on brake dust, get Iron X. Just told a guy in another thread to use it for his paint (rust spots), but it clears up the wheels too.

I spray mine with P21S cleaner then scrub it with my ezdetail brush. Then I spray with my pressure washer to make sure I got it all. This makes a big difference. I haven't sprayed all inside my wheel wells with any protectant to make it shine. However, I have used some PoorBoys world trim restorer on the plastic/rubber parts where the mud flap wraps around into the wheel well.

I'm confused by this thread. Are we talking about wheel wells or the inside of the wheels?
If wheel wells, I have to say the OP must be insanely OCD If inside of the wheels, then you should try sonax full effect or some other wheel cleaner like Adan's deep wheel cleaner (which I use and love). Since the stock pads generate so much brake dust, you might want to consider a wheel coating like Cquartz. |
