13% is still a lot less than the Swedish 25%. But we also have free health care

I'm actually not surprised about that A/C tax.. I've seen plenty of that stuff in Europe and, sadly enough, they're also coming up with similar taxes in Hawaii nowadays (yes, the US is not immune to that stuff either).

If you're paying nearly $70k for a 3-series there is definitely something wrong.

But this shows you all what we're talking about here in Canada when we refer to $70K 3-series....we get it worst here in Ontario, as we have the highest sales tax.
Nova Scotia has the highest sales tax, 15%.

I don't know where you got this quote from, but I would give Parkview a call and see what they can do. Unless this is from Parkview, then I am dissapointed. My brother got a 2011 executive edition in April of 2011 for 51ish after everything. It was the 328xi, but nevertheless!!!

I will share what I pay when I buy but I am not buying that vehicle. That quote was in February and even though I said I didn't want to haggle and just wanted a straight dealer price, he seemed like he wouldn't have haggled anyway. I got it at my local dealership and from what I have read on this forum, they are selling for around 1000 over invoice now.

But yes, the tax is BS and so is the fact that our base price is so much higher than in the USA. Our dollar is damn near par and here we are getting ripped off twice....on the vehicle price and the taxes after.

We get free healthcare, yes, but I also pa 30% of my salary to the government, so paying an extra 13% on everything I buy really sucks.

In the last 2 weeks I have had a tetanus shot and a Xray. Not sure what that would have cost me in the USA, but when you go once or twice a year, it definitely doesn't balance out.
