Anyone getting a check engine light with MPPK? 2014 335xi
Did a Euro Delivery on my 2014 335xi back in August 2014. A couple months later it arrived back in the US. Originally I purchased the MPPK (Motor Power Kit) to be done at Port Install, but since my car was a July build it as removed from the Vehicle Order.
In late October BMW released a new version of the MPPK (part # 11122353337) for July and later builds. I had my dealer install this kit in early November with about 3000 miles on my car. A few days after install my car's check engine light came on. I made an appointment and dropped it off at the dealer. I get a call from my service advisor telling my the Mass Airflow Sensor was acting up, and was related to the new MPPK and possibly the air box retrofit with the new kit. They opened a PuMA case with BMW, they suggested replacing the mass airflow meter. When taking to my SA, he felt changing out this Mass Airflow Sensor wasn't going to solve the problem. Within a couple days this was swapped out, I picked up the car a week ago. Check engine light is out. Not even 400 miles later the check engine light is on again. I have an appointment Monday to bring the car back in again. Something tells me there's a bigger issue here with this. Anyone else's have a MPPK part # 11122353337 install on their car with check engine light on? I think the older kits did not have this lower air box replacement done to them. |

Zero problems with my MPPK (2013 F30 M-Sport, 2/2013 build). The air box from the kit just has a small aperture opened up at the front, ahead of the filter so no unfiltered air gets in, and it's primarily for sound, not for increased airflow.

I got a f30 335i m performance, build date july 2013. Cel came on the first day i had it, then braught the car to the dealer and they told me the problem is related to the cluster... They ordered a new cluster from germany which should be here in afew weeks...
in the meantime, they re-installed my software which erased the cel, however a few days after the cel came back... It now disapeered by itself... |

My SA got in my car and reset the light without hooking it up to anything and told me to keep an eye on it. Just odd.

Well my CEL is back on again. It's been at the dealer for over 25 days total now.
First they replaced the Mass Airflow sensor.. Light cleared, 200 miles later, it's back on again. Brought it back, another PUMA case.. Replaced some sensor on air intake..I'll get more details when I get the car again.. For now the light is cleared. Should be ready for pickup real soon. My SA doesn't sound too confident this will correct the issue. Pretty sad that BMW cannot get their MPPK working properly. |

Not happy to hear this.
I have a 2014 335i and was going to have the MPPK installed during my next maintenance visit (~2500 miles until). Dealer agreed to match Tischer/Silver Springs for the kit and estimated $350 in labor. I have had zero issues in the last 9K mls, except for one freak incident when the car wouldnt make boost until 3500rpm (turned the car off and back on and all was well thereafter). Am I opening up a can of worms? |

If you're having all these issue why not get them to remove it and see if that solves the issues. Get a refund as well..
(Even if you keep it I would demand a refund) Mike |

I have a 2014 335 m sport and wanted to have the PPK installed at port but it was not available I was told in December.
I just ordered the PPK and planning to have installed at dealer in February. This thread is making me concerned... Anyone with a 2014 335 m sport have the PPK and experiencing no problems??

Just an update on this. My SA wanted to drive the car over the weekend to make sure there wasn't any issues. Makes me wonder why they haven't returned the car yet. If there's not any further issues, it should be ready tomorrow. |

My CEL has not come on yet. With that said, I have not driven it but maybe 100 miles since the SA reset the light.
This is my 2nd car, so I just drive it when the weather is good. |

I have a US Spec, MY2014 F34, 335i GT, built in Oct 2013. I had the MPPK installed in Dec with the latest MPPK. After about two weeks of driving, the CEL came on. I made an appointment to have it looked at, the appointment was in two days. After work on Day1 of CEL, it disappeared, so i called the dealership and cancelled my appointment. I figured it was just a glitch maybe it was just really cold or something. Anyway the following week, the CEL came back on. I made another appointment, the appoinment was in two days. So, the day of my appoinment, the CEL disappeared again. I told the dealership that it was gone, they still kept the vehicle and wanted to run some tests. They kept it for a day, they connected with BMW Munich and BMW Munich couldn't find a fault either. They performed a reset and the CEL was gone. The next day the CEL was back on, on my drive home the same evening, about after it was parked for 8 hours, the CEL went away.
Needless to say, this is getting frustrating, making another appointment with BMW. The last time i picked up my car, i was told that if it happens again, they will have to keep my car for a bout a week to figure this out. So, i don't drive the car crazy. I normally keep the cruise control on at 122km/hr to and from work. I travel 186km a day to work and back. Once in a while I will punch it and hit 250km/hr for a few to open her up. Has anyone received any new news as to what is possibly happening? The car drives great, just the CEL coming on and off. |

First they replaced the Mass Airflow sensor. A week later, CEL on again.. This time they blamed (and replaced) intake manifold pressure sensor. I haven't been home much to drive it, but it's been off for a couple hundred miles now. I am not convinced it's fixed. Mine would pop on, then pop off a couple days later. So they need to get to the root. Mine always seemed to trip at highway speeds (60-65mph) under regular driving. Nothing harsh. |

I have had similar issues as the others. Mine is a 2014 RWD, October build, December PPK install. CEL came on, next day I took to dealer and SA turned light off, said it was the vap line??? 200 miles later CEL came on again. Next day took it in. Did a full diagnosis it's the hot air mass meter. I think that 3 cars w/ same issue, same build, same PPK, I would bet that there's a broader issue.
