Dinan F30/F32 Tune

Hey all,

I'm digging for information, and its driving me crazy, I know there are a couple other tunes, but I really don't want a piggyback and would prefer to have a warranty backing a product (Dinan). If anyone has any news, please post it I know a couple of guys who are dying for more info.

I have been reading posts like this for about a year, unfortunately I don't think it's happening any time soon

I contacted Dinan back in August 2013 and received this response...

"We are still diligently working on a software solution for the F30 328i and 335i. We obviously know the N55 engine very well, seeing as how it came out in 2011. The issue is that the newer chassis’s that the engines are mounted in are massively complex, with numerous communication systems that we haven’t seen before. Which is why we haven’t been able to release a software solution for the F30 as of yet. That being said, I am hopeful that we’ll have something for the F30 cars in the latter part of this year. I can’t predict if that’ll immediately translate to your 435i, as we don’t have a 435i in development as of yet."

I'm still hoping to see something from them in late summer, but I don't have any official information other than the quote above.

I know this isn't what you're looking for, but a BMS Stage 1 or JB4 is a great way to go. These things are thoroughly tested (been around for many years) and I've yet to hear of any issues. I was initially hesitant to, got tired of waiting for Dinan, and now couldn't be happier. Just a thought.

Last time i heard Dinan was working on a piggyback not a flash for these cars because of the ECU complexity so basically what you are going to be getting is a lower performance JB4 that cost 4 times the price.
Just get a JB4 and remove before you visit to the dealership.

Isn't Dinan's recently released F30 Shockware evidence that their engine tune is probably just over the horizon?

The JB4 is a great tune but for someone who might be happy with Dinan power levels check out the BMS N55 Stage1. Installs and removes in minutes, costs less, and is a nice kick in the pants to tide you over.

If you already had the MPPK on your personal 335i, would you opt for the BMS Stage 1? Not enough of a difference (if any)?

I'm thinking Shockware is evidence of Dinan getting past BMW's encryption. The rest is relatively easy.

Agreed. It means that they have finalized the coordination process with BMW to allow them access to the encrypted ECUs to conduct their reprogramming. Engine software likely takes a little more time to R&D and QA, so no surprise that Shockware was released first, but I'd expect engine software in the very near future.

Suuuure.

Must be why they are releasing a piggy-back. What happened to that encryption bypass?

They needed to get past the encryption to perform their Shockware update, so I'm not sure I understand your confusion (?)
At any rate, the info about their tune being a piggy-back is incorrect...

Well...

I'd be happy just to get Dinan springs and Shockware for my 435i xDrive. I had Dinan Stage 2 on my 2007 335i manual coupe, and the chassis couldn't handle the torque. With the MPPK and the 8 AT this thing is pretty close to my 2010 M3 DCT in a straight line. What it really needs is a better suspension and tires.

No offense but I don't believe it,

Dinan has been saying all along that they have no interest in piggyback systems and the issue has been the ecu encryption. They have been able to get past this now....shockware is evidence as the others have pointed out. Tune should not be far off....my bet is it comes by end of June.

LOL, ok. I have no ego invested in you believing me or not. However, Dinan showcased their new piggy-back at Bimmerfest on both an M5 and M235i.

I really don't know what else to say.

For clarity I'm not saying you didn't.... I'm actually saying im shocked if they are going this route after they have continued to say that they are not interested in piggy-back tuners. I guess for comparison AC Schnitzer also uses a piggy-back tune....so of course it's possible.

I would definitely prefer a flash tune but At this point i want them to get us something....and hopefully the numbers are solid. Power and price.

Thanks for sharing your information....did you happen to steal any pictures
