Moving iDrive from current F32 to New F32.

Just looking for some guidance if it's possible to move all my data and settings from my 2014 F32 to my 2018 F32 I will be getting next week. I have spent quite sometime loading music setting up the stereo and my driver profile. Can I just back this all up to a USB drive and restore to the new car and then erase the information on the old car.

There's an option to copy your current profile on a USB stick, so you can try that and import it in the new car, maybe it will work ;-)

It is a different system and would not recommend.

I wonder if the real question might be: is your data (music files, etc) in a different format that is not compatible with the new iDrive system? Operating systems are often changed, updated and the new system is constructed to accept legacy data formats and tags. As long as you have a transfer medium (USB port), its worth a try with a small data sample.

Good Luck

IDrive profiles system/settings are different.

HU_NBT and HU_NBT2 use the same Gracenote database.

But, I do not know anyway to extract media.

The other thing of which to be aware, is the imported media is compressed and decreases quality.

If I remember correctly, the last version of the CIC had a way of downloading the Music Collection (HDD) into an USB stick. I would assume that the first version of the NBT had that option as well (never tried). For sure, the current NBT2 Evo had that option (Music Collection -> press Option at the iDrive controller).

Also, if the Music Collection was imported via the CD player then it will be compressed at 128kbps WAV into the HDD. Otherwise
it will be at the same compression of the original.

My NBT has no export option for media.

Any imported media will be compressed.

I have done the Export Media in both a CIC and the NBT2 Evo and the music is as compressed as I imported them (320kbps) from USB. I do not do CD import as it really mess the music up at 128kbps.
