Yup, I started a thread on it earlier today: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1433928

They talk about them going big over the years, and the inherent issue of tempered glass strength, but most 3 series cars out in the world have a standard size sunroof, save for the wagon and GT, so one has to wonder if it's just a manufacturing defect.

It's definitely happened to a some folks here on the forums.

My other car is a Mazda 3. Several owners have reported this. Scary stuff.

Hmmm...between the wife and I, we've owned 5 BMWs with glass sunroofs since 2001. No explosions so far.

My glass guy says they change quite a few (across a lot of brands). It's typically caused by a rock getting tossed up and landing on the glass.

I would guess that glass has gotten too thin.
