Perhaps an audio warning would be more effective, in a soothing female voice...the first time. If it has to be repeated then you get an expletive laced tirade by Andrew Dice Clay, like "Hey, numb nuts, put some freaking air in the G D tires already!"

I set one button for navigating home and another button for stopping navigation. I discovered that if I press the stop navigation button when I am not using NAV, it starts me up with the last destination. Essentially it becomes a toggle. Pretty sweet.

Yeah its a safety feature to prevent the car from rolling with the doors open.

Trick my SA taught me is to keep the brake pedal slightly pressed down to allow the car to roll with the door open.

Wow - good thread hank you - only took me a day to read it!! Had a 330d e91 a few years ago with good tech and swapped for Z4MC which was like going back to the dark ages.

Just ordered a f31 335d and cannot wait to try/discover all the things I found out in this thread.

Next stop learning to code - that's a whole new learning curve!

A little embarrassed, but I knew the seats in my 335 folded down, but couldn't find the latch, since they're directly on the seats in my F31. After scratching my head, I gave up and just assumed I was wrong. Then I packed some groceries in the back and had to cram one of the bags in and reach under to clear the trunk liner and while looking in and under saw the latches on either side.

Pictured here in either side on the top of the trunk. Standing next to the trunk with it open, I don't see them, but this pic shows them well. Duh!

That's an anti-theft feature. On the F31 it doesn't help any since you can reach over the seats to get to the cargo area, but on sedans, it limits trunk access in two scenarios:

• Trunk button disabled for 'valet' use. (Not sure how to do this in BMWs, but I've had several cars with this feature)
• Rear side window is broken to pull the latch and see if there are valuables in the trunk. (This actually happened to me in a rental car that had the latches on the seat. They broke the rear triangular window over the seat latch, pulled the patch and looked in the trunk to see if it was worth their time to break in fully. Luckily I had JUST dropped all my stuff at the hotel so there was nothing worth stealing.)

on my volkswagen jetta, the valet key only turns on the car. there are also locks on the glove box, trunk release button, and on the seat latch that can only be opened with the standard key. if they are locked, it restricts the motion of the latches/switches so nothing opens.





Does the f30 have a valet mode/key? It would be nice but I also don't know how it'd work.
