BMW F32 Performance Exhaust Question

What does this exactly do and is it needed? I bought a performance exhaust from another user on craigslist and that part is missing as well as the clamp (#2).

It's the actuator for the valve in that exhaust pipe. The valve is reported to assist with warm up etc.

The seller kept the clamp because we'll he needed it for his exhaust.

Ah is it necessary to have? Not sure if the stock exhaust has one or if it can be used on there.

IIRC the valve is standard on all BMW's.

The exhaust will sound a little louder without it under low load conditions. That's it.

Your current muffler should have the same valve. Your tech will transfer the valve to the new muffler.

Golf-Tee mod for sure! Sounds so much better (and both tailpipes have the same amount of carbon on them vs. the drivers side looking like it came out of the box while the passenger side full of carbon black).
