Say what you will I love both my cars the BMW ///M3 and the MB C350 4MATIC, our DD equally (all depending on weather and street condition anyway) ... and when my daughter is out of town I so enjoy driving my former e28 535is from 1987 man that car was build like a rock.
One day I need to go to only one car and it will be a toss up between the BMW 335i Luxury and the Mercedes E350 4MATIC ... I shall wait until the 335i Coupe rolls into the showrooms in about a year from now. The Toronto Auto Show only had the 328i in Luxury Edition on display and boy it was nice I have to drive the 335i one of those days to compare.

I think you misunderstood my statement. What I meant was that I am a BMW fanatic. My bias is that BMW is the best. The magazine just tested the car and said it IS the best. |

My wife has a G37x and Motor Trend really got the transmission on that car nailed down to the T.
"The biggest complaints revolved around the Infiniti's seven-speed automatic transmission, which is an elementary school dropout in terms of programming intelligence. The car was never in the right gear coming out of a turn, and sport mode did little to correct the problem. The only time the sport setting did anything was in the constant, tight sweepers of Decker Canyon, when it was unnecessary"

I think the following few lines will forever stay engrained in my mind. What a writeup!
"This is not just a win for the 328i -- it's a massacre. A slaughter. Doomsday. Armageddon. I say this with a straight face: There is no competition. Not only was the BMW's first-place finish never in question, I can't remember a comparison test with such lopsided results."

I don't think there was any doubt that the F30 would be good (though, I didn't expect a "massacre") I just want the see how the ATS is going to compare when it's finally released.

I don't see how this comparo is relevant. They're soon redesigning the G, the IS, AND the C-class. And the A4 is getting a facelift. And I don't see why a TSX was used over a TL and I don't see why the TSX got the bigger engine choice while the others were left with their base engines. And i'm sure the extra $6,000 in options helped the "wow" factor of the 3. That white F30 sure does look great though

This is great for BMW. The 3 Series remains at the top of the heap. Although, as pointed out, some of those cars tested are in for a redesign soon. BMW will probably still keep the crown, but I expect to see some of those cars move up the list.
Also, the biggest shock for me when I saw this was that the S60 took second. Got to give props to Volvo for that. |

Like all comparisons when a new car comes out, it is relevant to see how it stacks with its current competition. When the new G, IS, and C come out they'll redo this competition and it'll be interesting to see how well they do again. This is exactly like in 2005 when they did the 2006 330i review against the rest of the aging pool (except for brand new IS at the time) but still convinced me to have a go in a 330 and now 6yrs later i still have mine and have loved every minute of owning it. Looking forward to seeing how the F30 will do through the years though!

ATS will be the darling of US motor community when it hits, especially among the magazines because it's only good business sense to write a lot of good things about American cars. (ouch for Buick in this article) I don't expect an upset but it still will get alot of attention going up against the 3er one-on-one. Will be interesting! |

Fantastic navigation screen - how is the actual navigation. If it is anything like the latest e90 navigation it has to be the worst in the test. My $120 Garmin has more features, is faster and easier to use than the $2000 in my 2011 328
