F31 with Adaptive Suspension
Does anyone know how long the adaptive suspension can go for until it needs to be replaced? The ride still feels very comfy, but not as sporty as I'd like even if it is my daily.
I have 75k miles on my F31 and would like to know if there is an aftermarket adaptive damper being developed that is plug and play? I would like to go H&R or Eibach Lowering springs as well to give it a nice drop. I know there is KW DDC but that is too much money for a daily. Also, I've only been used to driving an E46 M3 with Coilovers so I really shouldn't be comparing the two

Bilstein makes replacements, look for ones with EDC which are Adaptive dampers. B4's are OE quality, B6 are HD and use the stock springs. Order them now, and you might get them by mid next year, as there are supply issues.
At 75K, I think you might be due to replace soon. Last edited by Tommy D; 11-15-2022 at 06:24 PM.. |

Are these the ones you are referring to? Crazy these are $1700 already, might as well go with some KW Street Comfort Coilovers and just code out the EDC 🤔

62K and still going strong. The front-right can get a little noisy when going over pavers, but otherwise I haven't noticed any issues.

They can go for as long as the car. As you can guess - depending on roads, driving style, loading and hundred other factors. How much fuel does a car consume?

But yes, Coilovers might be cheaper, but then you loose the option of switching back and forth with drive modes. All personal preference. Not sure how doing the swap would effect resale. Skyhigh, Yes dampers can last the life of the car, but road conditions are a big factor. Driving on rough roads with potholes and large rims with a short sidewall will wear them out quicker. On PA US roads with both summer and winter driving you usually get around plus or minus 100K miles before you are swapping them out. Not to say the other components like the strut mount can wear.
