High beam problem when cold
Hi, I have a problem with high beams when it's freezing outside (below 0C). It's a pretty weird problem, but when I switch on high beams and then switch them off, right (passenger) headlight high beam stays on for 2-3 seconds and then switches off. It's very noticeable, left (driver) high beam switches off immediately, but the right headlight high beam is stuck for this 2-3 seconds. It's quite annoying and possibly even dangerous considering that I switch them off when another car is approaching.
I'm 100% sure it's affected by temperature, because it started to happen last winter and then it was gone, so I basically forgot about it, but it returned yesterday and today when the tempretures dropped below 0C where I live. And it will be even worse, because winter is coming as Ned Stark would say. I don't really know where to even start looking to be honest. Is there anything in the headlight that might be stuck because it's freezed? Some relay outside the headlight? There are no codes in the ECU by the way, so the car sees no problem at all. |

I don't actually. I had, but I had it "repaired" (the headlights were sealed somehow by a professional company) and right now it's absolutely clear inside even after hard rain or carwash, no signs of moisture at least inside the compartment visible from the outside. Ironically, I don't recall it happening when there was a lot of moisture inside (although I had it sealed before winter so it wasn't freezing probably...).

+1. If the shutter is sticking only when the temperature is below freezing there's moisture somewhere on the mechanism. It's not an electrical problem, current flow isn't bothered by cold temperatures.
