2016 428i temp almost going at 250F..need help what causing

240 to 250F on the highway is normal. The gauge shows oil temperature, not coolant.

Also note that the nearest tick to the 250F tick is ~235, so it might be farther off 250 than it seems.

Nope. That’s 205 F. It’s a linear scale, with 45 F per mark. The gauge goes 160, 205, 250, 295, 340… so for eyeballing, half-way between the left unlabeled tick and the 250 mark is 227 F.

Apparently there are two different oil temp gauges in the F3x, mine looks like this with minor ticks in between the major ticks. Pre-LCI vs LCI maybe?

Yep, different. I gots no red marks, just the white…
235 is correct for that first left red tick. And I like those added red marks..
