HBA ON CANADIAN 335's

High beam assist (5AC), adaptive xenon headlights (522 / 524) are all standard on Canadian F30 / 335's

well im very confused about this

german price list it says the M6 has

"adaptive LED lights" and "high beam assist"

when you look at the highlights of the M6 (flash animations) it says "the high beam assist will auto turn on/off the highlights"...

no word about dynamik blind spots or dizzle free highbeam...

now what?

I think the F30 is the first BMW car to have the fully intelligent high beam, no?

Mercedes launched it recently on their E Class too but not sure if any other cars do it yet.

I know I probably sound like a stuck record but really, this system is mind-blowingly clever!

Yes, the F30 (EU/ROW/CDN spec) is the 1st car to have infinitely variable HBA. I don't think the E-class have this feature, tho the new A-class has adaptive HBA as an option. Not sure whether adaptive means infinitely variable.

On the F01/02 LCI price booklet (German spec), it said "Adaptiver LED-Scheinwerfer inkl. Adaptives Kurvenlicht und blendfreier Fernlichtassistent und....".
As the system is more or less the same, I think it's there also for the 6er.

F30 was first.
F01/F02 LCI with LED was second.

So being adaptive LED, I assume the 6er with Adaptive LED and HBA will also have this version of HBA.

it's totally unclear since it's just listed as 5AC for all cars and yet we know it's completely different on some models. Once again, BMW making finding the truth about awesome stuff almost impossible. Noobs.

If I ever got into a Marketing position at BMW, I know what I'd be pushing!!

Makes it seem like there is poor lateral communication between the departments. And that may be the case.

Yeah me too. Although the adaptive bi-xenons that come standard are pretty cool in and of themselves. Never thought the beams "turning" with the car would be that useful or noticeable.

I only ordered it on a whim - I had no idea they were so clever until someone took delivery of a car with them on and raved on about how clever they were. Bloody marvellous

after some more reading i think the M6 dont have the high beam assist that is dazzle-free.

on the F30 series in the price list it says

"high beam assist (dazzle-free)"

on the M6 it just says

"high beam assist"

so i dont think the M6 has it even though the LED's

From the latest E-class brochure it didn't say it's continously variable, it just said smooth transition from dipped to main beams.

It's also an option on the '13 328 Coupe which is an E92... not sure if it's just auto on/off or infinitely variable either....

2013 328 Coupe (part E92, part F30?)

So I've made a few posts since picking up my first BMW last week... but just wanted to introduce myself... I'm Steve. I got a Black on Saddle Brown 328i xDrive 6MT Coupe.

Now that I've been reading about E92 vs F30... the best I could come up with is that we have the E92 body and engine but also some of the newer F30 options and electronics.

You can equally say that about cars we know have variable hight beam in the BMW range. it says the same crap regardless of which system it uses and nowhere are they telling anyone about the new high beam or making any attempt to sell it

It did say in the F30 brochure & press materials tho. The press materials said it's a first (this new system).

The z4 that we're picking up tomorrow in SC is set to have the "5AC" option, but it was added as "Automatic High Beams" vs Assist. Is it safe to assume that this is the same option?

Thanks for starting the discussion on this, it's such an interesting feature, technologically and safety wise.

I recently found a different video illustrating adaptive headlights quite well, in fact, I was able to really appreciate it with this one, hopefully this is a good reference for other members too.

Funny thing, I still don't know if I have this on my car, apparently according BMWVIN I do so, I need to remember to check this out.
