Brushed Aluminum v Black trim

For those of you driving with either the Aluminum or Black trim, how are they holding up? Are you still pleased with the one you picked?

My original thought was that black would scratch too easily, and over time may just come to look like scratched up plastic. Then I remember someone saying the aluminum sometimes throws a nasty sun glare.

I'm leaning Aluminum because I want to go with the black accent instead of the red.

I opted for aluminium, since the black plastic looks cheap to me.

Personal opinion.

Went with brushed aluminum because I didn't want the red strip. The black also picks up fingerprints like crazy.

I'm going with aluminum since the black looks good on the dash, but the black finish next to the idrive controller just didn't look that great to me.

my black is holding up very well and I am happy with the choice. fingerprints etc are not a big issue. that's the easiest part of the car to clean and no scratches here. Love it!

Same here. Specially since i got coral red interior and black saphire exterior. The black diamond trim seemed to flowe very nicely vs the brushed aluminum seemed to clash with the red interior.

It's one of the options when you order a sport line. I decided since my seats don't have any red on them that I'd just delete to
he red accents on the dash. I don't my car yet but I'll post pics when I do.

This is my interior as well, other than the manual trans. The aluminum looks great. My E90 had the aluminum trim as well and it looked brand new after 5 years of ownership. The aluminum/red trim combo looks terrific (subjective) in person, as it is matte finish and not as scary bright as pics make it look.

Brushed aluminum with red stripe here. I had gloss black in our Countryman and it was prone to scratching and fingerprints. I like silver due to the sportiness.

No glare here.

I was disappointed with the aluminum trim. There were defects in it and it was very plain looking - cheap looking. I replaced it with textured gloss black. I was thinking of replacing it with the M performance carbon fiber trim but it costs $1400 installed.

I had the opposite experience. I wanted black originally. I thought it was made of plastic. Then I saw the aluminum. That's when I figured out it's actually made of metal.

I would lean more toward Al by my personal preference default, but I ended up with the piano black. Not as bad as I was thinking when seeing it in person. Seems to hold up pretty good and doesn't seem to scratch easily. But then it is only a month old. I saw the Al trim at the bimmerfest and wasn't too impressed with it... thought it would have looked a lot better in the mostly black sportline interior. But both have their unique character.

Black is very hard to keep clean... dust, wipe marks, fingerprints, etc.

I would love the M performance trim but wondering if that money wouldn't be better spent somewhere else on the car. If only it was available sooner...

Agreed, this is why you have to be OCD about reviewing the build sheet, CA's usually have no idea wut theyre doing. If they didnt provided it to you and you have your original request documented somewhere, they better make it right.
