Back in an F30...for a bit
Hey guys,
haven't been on this forum in a long time. I used to own a silver F30 328i that I owned from 07/2014-07/2017. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1038010 Was a great vehicle overall and I truly miss it after returning the lease to BMW financial. But life threw me some curveballs and financially would have been difficult to keep it. My consolations weren't too bad because I bought a Mustang GT a few months before (at the time I worked for Ford) and a daily driver Nissan. So lo and behold, a year later, I have moved back to the east coast, am about to purchase a house, and have recently gotten engaged. Yet my dream to buy another F30 has not gone away. In the meantime, my sister ended up purchasing an F30 328i. It's a base spec xdrive, so def nothing fancy. Just has the upgraded headlights, mineral gray. Since she left for a work assignment to the west coast for about 2 months, she left me her 328i to daily. It feels good to be back in one especially since I dearly miss mine and kind of forgot how they drove. Although quite a bit different from my old modded F30 and my beastly 5.0 with a bunch of power/suspension mods, it's great to drive to be honest. It feels much better built than my GT and is nimbler (even with a whole bunch of track suspension mods), especially in curvy Pennsylvanian roads. Its automatic is smooth compared to my nissans cvt. It can't compare acceleration wise to my 5.0 at all, but it's responsive. And it's fuel economy is better than both my cars even my 4-cylinder daily. All in all, brings a smile to my face driving it, and makes me remember the fond memories of my old F30. Looking forward to the next coming weeks driving it around.

It's a great car. Build quality is the first thing you realize when switching from domestic cars. I think 328i has got perfect balance of sportiness yet economy as long as you don't start pushing things around. The only thing I dislike is the Turbo motor, nothing wrong but it just feels different from a naturally aspirated one.

Welcome back for a bit! I really can't think of how I can go to another brand anymore. I'm looking to keep this F30 for the long haul.

Even though I was planning on buying another F30 after the house, I may get a Mini Cooper S or VW GTI to try something different. One things for sure, my F30 was my last new 3-series. Not really liking BMWs future direction, so if I do get another bimmer, all I'm interested in is a used one.

If you like the quality of an F30 with the performance of a Mustang GT, might I suggest a CPO 2015 M3? They are going for low $50k right now, same as a brand new 340i. I got mine new, but if the circumstances were right, I would get a CPO in a heartbeat.

Same. I think they've found a lifer in me. As far as customer retention and brand loyalty, BMW comes out near the top next to Honda and Subaru if I'm not mistaken
