Wollaston Motors - what a bunch of idiots!

My car was in today for it's end of warranty check, MOT and service. First thing was I booked this a month ago with a pretty loose timetable and they were unable to give me a courtesy car so it had to be picked up but they turned up at my house rather than work address as I requested. The driver told me that was the second wrong address they had sent him to that day.

Later they rang to say it passed it's MOT and no problems with the warranty check. Except there were plenty of things wrong as I'd given them a list. Both front wheels have bad corrosion around the centre caps, I asked how come they missed those and the response was I hadn't asked them to check (I showed the driver who wrote it down and I mentioned it to their service department before it was collected). They had to call the car back as it was on it's way back to me to take photo's for the warranty claim. They never checked any of the problems I asked them to look at including the light/rain sensor which has packed in.

Came back dirtier than it went even though the paperwork stated it had been washed and vacuumed. Had a nice 8" scratch on the panel in front of the bonnet just to cap things off.

Seemed obvious they had only done the service item and the MOT and hadn't bothered doing the warranty check. There's no point talking to anyone on the phone as whatever you say, never gets passed on. The woman I was ranting to didn't even try to apologise.

What a load of tossers, don't trust them with your car.

Have to say I bought my current car from them and found the sales part to be very good. Never used for services however..

Yes, I was impressed with the sales side as I bought the car off them too. Their service department is diabolical, this is the third time I've had the mispleasure of using although this time was worse than normal.

Mine was in my dealer for the same today, MOT, end of warranty and brake fluid. Only issue they found was water in the rear light - which i told them about. I washed and dried mine yesterday so was spotless when i gave it to them, but they still washed it, so now it's covered in water spots.

I had a 4 as a courtesy car. Black leather, and piano black trim makes for a very black cabin. Really made me glad I went for a light interior. I also sat in a new 5 series at the dealer, that was lovely inside.

Same here apart from I didn’t get a courtesy car!
Different dealer mine was good I was surprised/impressed.
Unplugged my dash cam though !
Taking the M4 in next week will be interesting to see what they do to that(they will be told not to wash it!)

They prob do that so you can't see what they do or don't do... I guess you wouldn't see much as the bonnet would be up in front of the cam

My wife's mini was in for an end of warrantee check recently. Nothing to report.

2 months later I noticed the paint had rubbed through inside both doors. Google says warrantee fix with updated seals.

Dealer says out of warrantee. £600... 10 days later, £80 with goodwill.

When asked about the end of warrantee check they say they are not allowed to highlight anything cosmetic. Same applies with wheel white worm etc.

So, make sure you check everything cosmetic before you send it in. They can't tell you everything.

I bought my current car from Woolaston Motors, the sales guy was good and pleasant enough and did cut a bit of a deal, so I was happy. Never used them for servicing or anything else.

Had my end of warranty at Specialist cars Stevenage, pointed out the slight white worm on 2 rear alloys, you had to look closely to see it mind & they replaced both rear wheels no question. Downside was that they put a 403m on the nearside & a 442M on the offside !! How the hell does someone do that. Another hour wait while they changed a wheel.

Noticed in my local dealer that they had a sign up in the waiting area saying that due to data regulations and privacy etc that dash cams had to be unplugged before the car was left for service and if it was left on that they would unplug it themselves. Probably the first item on their service check sheet list now.

My thoughts exactly, if your'e changing a wheel wouldn't you look and think, hang on this ones not the same?

Worst bit was that the service guy said "cars all ready sir everything has been checked and all is ok, its parked out front for you" Imagine his face when I went back in and said in front of his next customer.. you didn't check it very well did you you put the wrong wheel on !

If both wheels on the same side had been changed then maybe you could make the mistake of having different wheels from the other side, but you would of thought someone would of noticed the front wheel was different to the back, the two styles are not even that similar.

I've probably not helped this situation.

A few years back I checked my dash cam to see what they had been doing only to discover the car swirl guy jumped in my car and helped himself to a load of change from my car park tin (all caught on audio).

That guy rightly isn't there any longer.

The guy serving the car never put his phone down either - I'm surprised they allow that in the workshops.

I also overheard a conversation about how my tyres were non-approved. MPSS on a 335d - how dare I!!

One of the best about having a Ghost installed is that when in service mode if the car is driven for longer than 15 mins or at speeds above 35mph it will reset & then will not start again without the pin.
It was quite amusing when the dealer rings saying there is a problem sir your car wont start, to which I reply where have you taken it. Queue very sheepish sales manager trying to explain why my car was obviously taken for a drive.

The installer of the ghost had a customer once for a Porsche i think who had a call from the dealer saying his car was stuck in Mcdonalds as they had obviously ragged on the way there & it subsequently wouldnt start when the tried to head back to the garage with lunch.

I wonder why that is!
I purchased a car a year and a half a go from a dealer and when I got in contact with them about a couple of questions a few weeks later, they were absolutely useless and failed to return two of my calls.

Not enjoying reading this. I'm sitting waiting for my wife's 125d to get looked at after the windscreen washers stopped working. 1 week before it's out of warranty! Hope they can fix it okay. What I don't know is if it requires parts they can give me the car back or not? Does failed windscreen washers justify holding a car? It's an MOT failure I think. Years since I had a car MOT'd and was just going to have it done by my friend who owns his own garage. Dealer can't fit an MOT in today unfortunately.
Would feel odd calling BMW assist to say the dealer is holding the car.
