Interesting this is a Power series woofer and not a Punch series. RF considers their Power series components their better series of products.

This is great news
I tend to notice that a majority of forum members here favor direct drop-in replacement components vs absolute best SQ components that requires extra work to install. I'm sorta in that camp too. So many BSW S-1 people here. With the F30 crowd representing such a HUGE clientele base, it really is surprising that not many other after-market companies have not filled the void to come up with good quality drop-in components to replace OEM equipment. Until now, its been Earthquake, and yet-to-be-released BSW subs. It'll be interesting who makes it publically available first. And i'm sure this announcement is going to keep BSW on their toes. We need more competition.. Thanks for the heads up Glenn! I'll be checking these out for sure! |

That is excellent news. I would def opt for direct drop ins if/when I want more kick, as long as they deliver. I am curious how much better the sound can get with the same power source. How much power is running to the subs in the stock setup? These RF's say they run 150 RMS.

Gary Biggs ran the shallow t3 subs in his bmw and his car sounds amazing, they required a little mod but nothing that a installer couldn't handle, will be really curious to hear how good these sound if they have done there homework and figured out exactly what the total enclosure of the bmw is, how it interacts with the interior and how its tuned. This sub should blow away the mediocre stuff that we have been offered as direct replacement. Jenhert, gladden, earthquack, mb quart. helix. ect.. excited to test them....

This is definitely an option for me as the final piece of the puzzle in my ICE upgrade.
I started with a base stereo system and recently upgraded to a BSW S1. The next stop this September will be a Bimmer-Tech amp. Having spoken to Patryk I need to get a custom harness from Audiotec Fischer so that may slow things down... And now this. Should be the final touch I need to complete my system. It would be great if anyone could offer an install guide and review? |

I would run the 4 inch down to 300hz and then have the 8s go from 300 to 60 hz, all at 24 db/oct. should be ok, to be safe change out the 4s for a high end speakers, css makes a great one at a good price.

You can only do so much with 8 in woofers in the small enclosures in these cars. I recently installed a Rockford Fosgate P300-10 sub and I am very happy. It is powered, easy to install, pretty small and the sound really impressed me.
It really has good deep bass, I only had to install power wire, ground and I ran rca cables to my Bimmertech amp. Very pleased for a $200 investment. You will not get this kind of bass out of a new woofer in the small enclosures. TC |
