I hope they honor the orders that did go through. I ordered a lot of stuff. I saved thousands. I was ready to order a tire and wheel package, just had to depress the submit button and then wanted to check on something else and when I went back it did not allow it. Oh well guess it was not meant to be.

Perhaps they had a limited budget for the sale and ended it after a predetermined number of orders?

But why would they get rid of their inventory of current M parts? Old stuff I understand but this was on new stuff too.

Hopefully they didn't have a "budget" for this sale, because that would mean they are losing money on every order, up to their maximum "loss allowance". I'm sure you will agree that this makes no business sense.

Because stopping a sale promotion proves its legitimacy how exactly?

Stores often have set budgets for promotions. In some cases they are actually losing money, while in others they calculate their "loss" on the difference from their standard profit margin.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was just another great Black Friday deal!

I'm sure it was intended to be 50% off clothing and lifestyle gifts. Keyfob's, fleece, jackets, hats, model cars, wallets, etc.

Parts are never discounted, certainly not 50% off.

Dear Customer,

This past weekend an error was made by our internet staff resulting in discounts that were not intended.

We regret to inform you that the item you ordered did not qualify for the promotion and unfortunately we are prohibited from shipping it to you at a discount.

Because you are a valued BMW customer we would like to offer you a free ceramic coffee mug as a way to apologize for this inconvenience.

Best,

Leith BMW

Car parts are never discounted. Interesting. Why is that exactly?

Edit: Certainly 50% is not normal. But car parts are never discounted?

Because parts have no real shelf life. Fashions come and go, no one buys fleece in July, gift sets like Wallets and Pens are for Christmas. Go to any retail store right now, everything will be 40% to 50% off.

But some springs and performance parts can last in inventory as long as the cars stay on the road, the CPO marketplace for parts is always robust.

Looks like you didn't read the thread. It was said multiple times that the sale was intended to run until Monday. Like most online "Black Friday" sales I must add. But instead it was pulled unexpectedly a few hours only after starting. Except for the Lifestyle junk.

I'm not expecting you to turn into Inspector Columbo here, but I'm sure you can piece it together now.

I know a lot of you really, really want that MPPK for 50% off (me included), but this is no reason to become delusional and aggressive towards those who are more level headed.

Only thing I'm waiting for on Monday, is if existing orders will be canceled, or if they will have the nuts to send ppl that went through the cracks, their 50% off parts at a loss..... But it's a car dealer so ain't gonna happen. Could have happened under similar circumstances with large B&M stores though.

I read the thread. I apologize for the tone of my comment. This whole thing seemed to have gotten a little out of control for this dealership (problems with web site, etc.) - so couldn't they shut down/change the promotion? I think it's possible.

Also, aren't the employees of this dealership that claimed everything is 50% off except tires the same ones that claimed the promotion was to last until Monday? Some have had issues using the discount code for any type of purchase.

I guess my point is who knows what is going on here lol.

I see what you mean with regards to the comparison to more traditional retail.

However, Getbmwparts.com, Tirerack, IND, Evolve, ECSTuning all have promotions with discounts on car parts right now. I bought discounted car parts this weekend and I've done so in the past as well.

Edit: I should add that I am in agreement that this was most likely an error. As you mentioned, 50% is extreme.
