Cradle Power Draw

I recently purchased an iPhone 4/4S media cradle for my old iPhone 4. The thought being that I could use my iPhone 5's bluetooth separately from the cradle-only features on the iPhone 4 (I love the album art and "Plug-in" features). I had intended to leave the iPhone 4 snapped into the cradle all the time. Does anybody know if this is a bad idea? I only ask because it appears the snap-in cradle is connected to the battery directly (i.e. not only on when the car is on). The fan in the cradle appears to continue to run whenever an iPhone is snapped in. Do I need to worry about excessive power drain if I were to leave it plugged in all the time? Will I wear out the fan motor?

I think you'll find it runs for 15 minutes with ignition off only, like power sockets.
