I already bought this, but I was wondering if this was the newest version of the MMI. Do these units happen to come with the dynamic parking lines and HDMI input?

That is my understanding based on their website and the price.

Yes, the newer MMI unit (MMI HD) supports HDMI.

Help!

I got my MMI Bimmertech camera installed and working, but due to the Nav unit that sits under the head unit (CIC), there is not room to stow the MMI box under the head unit...?

Has anyone else with Nav installed the MMI kit? Where did you fit everything?

The location for the MMI for cars with the Nav is shown in this video:

I watched multiple videos, but none of them had a Nav unit. Once I got everything hooked up, the MMI unit and all of the wiring was just hanging out of the front of my dash....looked like my radio threw up.

After the new video, and pulling the entire passenger side dash off, the MMI and all the wiring fit in nicely. Everything is back together and working like a champ.

Mr. Huge,

Did you connect anything to the HDMI/USB? I'm thinking of connecting an Amazon Fire TV stick for shits and giggles. The box didn't come with much documentation so I'm not sure if I need to run the arm rest AUX into the MMI RCA inputs to get audio output to the speakers.

Thanks,

Amazon Fire TV stick gets its audio/video data from the Internet via WiFi, then outputs that data to the HU (video) and speaker system (audio) directly. No need for extra cabling. So the bigger question will be where you get WiFi from.

You'll either have to enable WiFi in your car or, as most people would choose to do, enable the personal hotspot feature on your phone (for the Fire stick to connect to) so that it can pull down content.

I installed mine and it works great. The worst part was removing the glovebox, lots of screws and harnesses to disconnect. I also added my own apple tv, so I could mirror my phone on the screen. I do need to go back and plug in the RCA cables, completely forgot to do that and I don't have audio right now for the apple tv.

Is there documentation that we can get for the MMI unit? Wasn't much that came in the box. I like to know what I can do with the unit and any special buttons we can press to access menu options.

Hi squidlyboy,

Thank you for the update. I'll be using my iPhone as a hotspot. I also bought an extension HDMI and USB cable to give me some extra slack in the glove-box which is where I'll be placing the Amazon Fire TV stick. So excited to get this up and running. Hopefully I'll have some time this weekend to get everything all wired up.

Thanks,
