Uh, you can achieve that with any oem grill. The outside ring is a separate piece from the slatted section. Center section has clips around perimeter, release the clips, remove center slats entirely

Grill has to be removed from car to do this

I wouldn't recommend it, grills are there for a reason to protect your expensive rad from flying road debris...

Yes, but you can't use the one piece without the other. I considered that when I needed to remove the slats from mine, I ended up cutting them off.

+1. The reason I removed my slats was to do this, because I was concerned that the wide gaps between the slats didn't protect the radiator very well:

+1. My guess is that the part in the picture is intended to replace a chrome frame, still using the original slat section.

do you realize how much you reduced the airflow to your radiator by doing that?

Lmao, well you never know what some will do for weight reduction and improved airflow.

Not enough to make a bit of difference in either my oil or coolant temperatures. OTOH a rock approaching a full inch in diameter can pass through the stock grille, and I'm quite sure the damage it would do to the radiator would cause a serious temperature problem.

Yeah, horrible, like a Jag or Bentley. Much worse than black plastic.

I get it. You don't like it. So don't do it to your car, and don't tell me what I'm entitled to prefer.

This tiny ding on the AC heat exchanger released all the refrigerant, which burned up the compressor. My 2018 440i is only three months old. Repairs cost $2k. Fortunately, my insurance covered it.

That's the main reason why I replaced the slat grille on mine, the protection against road debris is minimal. TBH I didn't do the lower section on mine where my AC coils are, but after seeing your experience it's on my list.
