You would still need a lot more parts, those are just the most expensive. In addition, you need four more modules per headlight, bulbs, plus leveling parts. My advice would be to wait till one of us completes the retrofit and does a full write up so you save your self a lot problems. I plan on taking pictures of every part and part number when start. I'm just waiting on my last module to arrive.

update-
ordered the levellers and all that - 14days due to back order.
ordered an ethernet cable and appropriate software.

hoping to do something this weekend. the boss man might require me to work this weekend, so might get pushed back. its also daft cold here the now so that might stop me.

but what i plan to do is:
Remove bumper
add the new grounds
install new headlights
swap pins over on the FEM module
code up.

headlamp washers and levellers will be fitted in a few weeks. hopefully this side of xmas.

Just finally picked up my wire/pin connectors to add in the ground wires to the harness.

Also my auto leveling sensors have arrived. They have a brackets and rods attached as they actually came off a BMW motorcycle. Anywho, I thought I would post pictures to see if it would help you figure out which harness might fit it. Hope they help.

Otherwise, I am only waiting on my last module to show up at my door and then I am good to go to start the retrofit. I will test fit the wires before hand to make sure they will fit the harness. Still need to figure out the screws though for the headlight modules. I ordered the rest of the retrofit parts for the auto leveling mounting but they are coming from Germany so might take a few weeks.

Here are the pics:

That's good it is all coming together.

Here's my levellers, arrived yesterday.

I have ordered a connector housing which I reckon will be correct. They are shipped today from within the uk so shouldn't be too long a wait. I will post up pics and parts once I can confirm

As for the xenons them self, I have hit a brick wall regarding e-sys, can't get a copy of data that isn't corrupt, so that's stopping me doing it this weekend. I will keep messing about tonight and try and get it to work.

What other retrofits you planning.

Cheers

Haha you remain a step ahead of me. I have ordered the connector housing as well and I believe they are correct as they have the same color wires coming out as the diagram. Here are the pictures:

The part number for the connector is 1-967360-1. This will make it easy as I do not need to find pins for them.

Other than that, I am just waiting for the rest of the parts to arrive. Oh and can you confirm that the screw that came with the autolevelers is the same for the headlights? Thanks in advance and good luck if you end up getting started before I do.

Good news! My last module has arrived from Lithuania. I have everything I need for the retrofit. HOWEVER, I am still stuck on the damn screws! I went and bought a pack of M6x18, but they are way too wide. Everything is closed now so I will have to wait till tomorrow to see if I can try the next thing down, but to tell the truth the thread pattern in the picture did not look like any regular M pattern.

aloo6: If there is any way you could match that screw to a size it would be very helpful. If not no big deal I will keep trying.

Otherwise, I received a few of the autoleveling parts the other day, but the rest are still coming from Germany and the harnesses are coming from Lithuania I believe. I am debating on whether to begin retrofit prior to autolevelers, but I will see how long it takes me to get screws. I kinda want to wait that way if there are any error codes I can rule it out that it is not just cause the autolevelers aren't hooked up (even thought I know I can code them off)..

Here is some porn to show the parts needed for one headlight (minus the screws and the bulbs(which are already installed inside))

everything is getting close and hopefully will have a working retrofit within two weeks (I of course will do a full write up DIY with pictures in a new thread once complete).

erm, if you want i could take a screw into my BMW parts garage and ask them for a part number?

only thing is i work away from home so would have to be after lunch tomorrow (UK time)

Also, you mentioned you ordered a loom, where was that from? i was going to make my own but if i could purchase one, that would be ideal.

what other sorta retrfits you planning?

That would be awesome if you could get me a part number, but if not just getting the thread pitch would be helpful as well.

They are the ones in the picture a couple posts up (for the auto levlers). The part number for the connector is 1-967360-1. I saw a couple places online that sell it but not sure about availability. I found mine used on ebay with wires still attached.

I'm not really planning any other retrofits at the moment but I often get bored and do stuff with my car. I was originally going to do a retrofit for the OEM alarm, but gave up after realizing I would need a whole new module and rewire everything. Maybe I will go back to it in the future if this goes smoothly.

Any luck with the screws? I think I might run wires from the ICM module for the leveling sensors first as that can be done while I am waiting for the harnesses. Just need to find the module I am guessing just start taking apart the center console and look for it.

Also need to figure out the best route for the wiring to the wheels. I don't think it will be easy and likely require removing a lot of trim pieces.

Alright man, sorry, I've had a few things going on the now.

The thread pitch looks like 1.5mm and the diameter looks like 4mm. Length of the screw looks like 14mm.

As for routing, not quite thought about that.

There is a few grommets on the other side if worst comes to worst for the front.

aloo6: thanks for the measurements!

I have some good news and some bad news (for me at least).

Good news: I found screws that work perfectly as I have yet to find a OEM match. They are 8x5/8 and I got them at Lowes (for US peeps), part number 884856 in packs of 7 (you will need three packs).

Bad news: I was so excited I got the screws, I decided to start the retrofit! Before I started removing the bumper I, thankfully, thought I would start with adding in the new wires to the wiring harness. So I just opened the access panel and worked from there. WELL... the larger wire (part # 12520143434) did fit and snapped it nicely. However, it isn't the right type of connector.. It would work if it had do and be fine, but I would rather have it perfect. THEN.. I went to try out the smaller wire #7... WAY to big (part # 12520143427). Here is a pic of what the skinny one is supposed to be (#12) next to the one I bought:

I am going to have to buy some more to try out to figure out which are the right ones... I do have a better idea now what they look like so it shouldn't be as hard. I guess this gives me time to wait for the rest of the autoleveling parts so I can do it all at once...

aloo6: have you found wires already? not sure what you were planning as far as that, I know you mentioned actually building a whole new harness..

To show promise though, here is a picture of the two completed headlights!!

Since I could not do my retrofit, I decided to see if I could find the ICM to try and determine which pin I would need to get to connect to autoleveling sensors...

After a bunch of prodding, I found it! Here is a pic of it's location:

However, that is not the view you would see if you simply took the idrive controller trim piece off. The rear air duct runs above this and I had to remove the duct in order to see the module. To do so, you simply pull out the rear a/c trim piece (I did just the vents first and then the entire rear trim piece that the accessory socket is in comes off by just pulling out). Here is a shot of the module looking in from the rear where the vent use to be:

However, I stopped short of pulling the module and/or harness as I had not disconnected the battery and I didn't want to risk messing anything up. The harness looks like it is actually L-shaped which is weird.. I will likely just complete this part when I disconnect the battery to swap out the headlight wires... Oh well...

Also of interest: The part number for my ICM module is only showing up for European model F30s... strange..

I have added the 522 into the vo. But for some reason the e-sys software won't let me read caf files. Always an error.
