BMW F30 320d - Michelin Pilot Sport 4 nonRFT - Terrible choice
I have 2013 BMW F30 320d M-Sport with M-suspension 225/40/18 and 255/40/18. The car came with Pirelli RFT and switched to Michelin Pilot Sport 4 non-RFT.
The car above 120km/h is terrible. Its like driving an old car. No stability. Very soft. I think BMW has optimized the suspension to work with runflat. Dont make the same mistake as me. You will regret it. I have done 2 times balancing and still nothing. DO EVER PUT MICHELIN PILOT SPORT 4 in BMW F30 with M-suspension! I have already started the process to give them back. |

This is the first time I have ever heard this. What do you mean "like driving and old car"?
It sounds like you adjusted to the harshness of RFT and now your body associates the harshness with communication of the road IMHO

Mich PS4S are fine on the staggered 435i with M704 suspension. Try adding about 3 to 5 lbs or so more pressure in the tires. Sounds like your pressure is a bit low. What does the door say and what pressures are you running?
BTW: You're the first i've read anywhere online that has had problems with the PS4S.

Sorry for the delay, I was on vacation.
The tyres were Michelin Pilot Sport 4 not 4S. The pressure on all tyres were tested many times and were exactly as BMW states. The feeling of the car, when driving on speeds >120km/h was like driving with strong wind. Also, the antispin indicator was engaging many times even in city driving. I managed to replace them with Continental ContiSportContact 5 SSR and the car now is super (great feeling and much less antispin engagements)! |
