coding - years from now

I can see where it might affect tuning harnesses that reverse engineer the data stream and then manipulate (lie) to the the ECU's.
I can't see how this will affect coding, but you never know... |

They can pass all the laws and copyrights all they want, I'm certain that it's not going to stop anyone. As long as the demand is there, there will always be supplies. Just like SONY console systems, did all the copyrights/patents and technology stop the MOD CHIP makers and retailers from making and selling them? Negative.

in regards to ECU coding, its the same argument they had when Android phones came out and people were modding them. The carriers wanted to make it illegal but that never passed. Theres nothing wrong with what we're doing, actually its BMW's fault for making it so easy. In regards to tuner chips....i mean technically it cant be illegal. It can void the warranty but if you bought the car, you can do whatever the hell you want to it. the only way it can be illegal is if it messes with emissions and your car doesnt pass inspections.
