I ordered the stage 1 for my MPPK last week. I also have the Afe intake. Do I need to replace it with the factory intake? How much hp and torque would I lose by leaving in on?

No, there is no need to put the stock intake back on. Your intake will work fine. Although not tested there should be no HP and torque loss from the AFE intake vs. the MPPK one.

Just to help you gauge interest, I'm eagerly watching for F25 X3 35i announcement. I'm in when it's ready.
Separately I want to hear more feedback on the M4 before I take the plunge on Stage 1 (or 2 when available). I'm a previous Stage 2 N54 customer if that helps reinforce my confidence in the end product. |

Dinan,
What kind of improvement should I see in 1/4 mile time or 0-60 with tune in 435 Xdrive? Is there any drop in mpg as well w/ tune? |

Its been a couple of years since my stage 2 upgrade on my '07 335i (diff engine) but I lost about 1 mpg and my 0-60 dropped about 0.5-0.7. I drive in a bit of stop n go though. You will definitely feel the difference.

I ordered my parts in May and they finally arrived at my dealer this week. My dealer was fully booked until Mid August but since I waited so long for the parts, they squeezed me in to get the Dinan CAI and the Stage 2 installed. I just picked it up today.
When they called me to come pick it up, the service adviser told me that the tech wanted to speak to me and get my opinion when I picked up the car...hmm....that doesn't sound like good news... Anyway, when I got to the dealership, I had a chat with the tech and he mentioned that he installed a lot of Dinan parts on previous BMW generations and every time, the changes would put a smile on his face. He said he has installed about 7 Dinan stage 1 on the N55 and every single time his customer was disappointed with the result. He figured that the stage 1 wasn't enough power to make a big difference and that a Stage 2 might be better. My car was the first car he installed a Stage 2 on and he was hoping for a noticeable difference in power. He was really excited to install a Stage 2 and see the difference. After he installed my Stage 2, he took it out for a test drive and he said it felt like the Stage 2 didn't even change anything in my car. So before I took the car off the lot, he wanted to speak to me and see if I noticed any changes at all. He suspected that either the Dinan Stage 2 doesn't really add much power or the car isn't taking in the new software changes that are made with the way they installed the parts. I'm glad we had the chat because at least they acknowledged that something was awry. When I drove the car off the lot, I certainly didn't feel any big power changes. What I noticed was what the CAI alone should have added. The engine sound and the little bit of power from a CAI mod, but I really don't think the Stage 2 was activated properly. From some of the other posts in this forum regarding the Dinan Stage 2, I suspect that it has something to do with the installation. But according to the computer, it was installed correctly. The tech is trying to call Dinan to see what they are doing wrong. I really hope that this is an installation issue because if not, that was $4k wasted. Once this gets sorted out, I'll post an update. Dinan_Engineering: If you read this post, could you please private message me and I can give you the tech's email address and help him sort this out? |

Here's what I noticed when I had the Stage 2, CAI, and FFE installed on my 435i M-sport: definite cool factor from the exhaust, some slight noise from the CAI. In Sport, the throttle is VERY touchy and responsive, almost like with a manual transmission. Comfort mode less so. Eco mode is basically dead, it registers little if any benefit now, even on the highway. Although, a couple months on, I'm still getting 25-26 mpg, and I drive in all three modes regularly.
In terms of power, at low rpm and from a stop, little if any noticeable increase, perhaps a bit of squat when you gun it, and frankly some sluggishness in Sport and Eco. Put the car in M/S, run high RPM, and you absolutely feel the difference. Even doing 80+ mph, the car has more get up and go. Last edited by 435iFanatiker; 07-29-2015 at 03:27 PM.. |

Dinan did claim to put out about 400 lb-ft torque at 2500 rpm. That's what I was most excited about |

I guess I could have written that better, so don't get me wrong; the car is very quick and responsive in regular Sport mode, it really shines when you put it in M/S and manually shift though.
