I took delivery a week ago, installed MPE 2 days afterwards.
As I drove home from the dealership, I didn't feel the extra juice provided by the PPK (based upon what I remember driving a non PPK on test drive). But, as the days and miles passed, I certainly felt the added power. As others have claimed, the ECU either adapts to one's aggressive driving style or gets "broken in". The roll-on punch it provides is awesome. I don't hammer it off the line as the car is still in its virgin stage but, I sense that experience will also be awesome when the time comes. Throttle response is immediate; turbo spool is audible. The deep, understated tone of the exhaust is a nice addition.

Any BMW parts store can get the floor mats, I like Sterling BMW (my contact is listed at the top of thread). They're great, and have a unique material. Flexible and comfortable like carpet, but they have a rubberized finish on them similar to all weather marts.
The door sills come standard on the M Sport. |

I dont understand what dealers lose out of not offering us these options at build. I experienced the same problem, I asked my dealer about it even sent them a picture of the part from getbmwparts and he told me it would cost over 3,000 for port install. It was definitely my fault for not pushing harder, but it looks like now im going to go JB to save money.

Come to think of it, he's probably just telling you it's a port install and plans on installing it after it gets to the dealership - that's the only way that price adds up. Not cool. You need to find yourself a better CA. Not sure where you live, but try to get in touch with Jon Shafer (CA), Greg Poland (CA), David Aviles (CA) or Adrian Avila (GA). They'll square you away. |

Stage 1 isn't a bad option, even the car stock is more than enough. So any tunes you get will make it that much better.

I agree the car is great even stock, its just annoying to think I could of had an option without warrenty risk for cheap(although still not as cheap as JB), where now if I were to choose that option it would cost me around 1300. Oh well just have to hope I dont run into any issues.

Thanks for the feedback (and confirming my suspicions). I will give the manager a call and press some more... Worst case, I will track down the M performance engine cover (just because) and go the JB route.

Night w/ warm parking lot lighting: Evil Gunmetal. Nice metallic look, ready for action. Day w/ minimal clouds: Mineral Grey - Perfect combination of a metallic color while accentuating body lines. Day w/ clouds and early sunset: Executive Grey - A flat/clean look, not too metallic. Dusk/Night w/ minimal lighting: Fierce Charcoal. Did an M3 just pass me? |

Excellent write up and review! I have the same powertrain (n55+8AT) in my '13 X5 and need some more grunt. Have no idea whether BMW has powerpack option for the X5 but I think I'll contact my dealer. Otherwise I'll look for a flash tune from a reputable tuning company. Too bad the 335's have gotten slower over time. I vBoxed my stock 2007 335i 6MT at 4.8 sec and my stock 2010 335i 6AT at 4.7 sec. Then modded the 2010 with the Wavetrack LSD, Michelin PSS tires, Procede+PWM meth, intake and downpipes I did 3.5 seconds (uphill no less!) and 3.9 in wet misting conditions lol.

Why does the sport display indicate an increase to 400hp and 400tq, when we know its much less than that (335hp/332tq)?
What am I missing?

I am not a 335 owner, but curious to as where you gained the extra 15hp @ 335hp as opposed to the marketed 20hp gain for total 320hp. Your torque number seems accurate as marketed so that is where I got confused. I know the MT doesn't gain as much TQ, but HP should be the same for both transmissions.
That would be the stock hp of a z4 35is/1M. Other than the MPPK, it seems that you only have the MPE which I know does not add 15hp or if anything, unless you were to remove the cats. Was there an ECU upgrade recently? Either way, sick upgrade |
