Not surprising, I can't get it to install.
I put it on a USB drive, put it in the car, go to update and I get an error saying it's not compatible. Second time this has happened (I tried to update the software earlier this year with another software update). This car is often just a series of minor headaches. |

I have the same config and text message show on my NBT pro nav screen... Maybe you have to check your conf. in Bluetooth pref on your phone, click on the (i) and check notification ! If it doesn't work, go to notifications prefs, in message and change the numbers of messages shown. Quit all, restart your car ! Normally now it's ok

In the Bluetooth menu under Settings in your iOS device, if you have paired up your BMW with it, you should see "BMW XXXXX", where XXXXX is the last 5 digits of the VIN. Touch "i", there should be an option "Show Notifications". This has to be enabled for your BMW to get new text messages notifications. If this is enabled and it still does not work, try redo the pairing again (delete it from your iPhone and pair it again - make sure the "Show Notifications" is enabled).

I see the Notification option, but I was wondering if Mailman only sees "Forget this device". If you're paired with a BT speaker, that's all you see...basically a one way audio streaming connection. That would be why messages weren't working.

That's what I think too ! But with the iDrive, only solution to get this result may be to only use the Bluetooth for audio streaming and no for phone (audio check and phone service uncheck). I can't see any other reason to don't get the option to activate notification under Bluetooth setting on the iPhone...

Well, even more weirdness.
As stated above, I started out today with TN-001.02.015|MN-001.023.007, and having the dealer update me to TN-002.049.003|MN-002.049.003, I was able to download and install UDP05062 from the BMW website. Mind you, my car is old, a November 2012 build. Maybe the dealer gave me the latest I-Step today? Regardless, I now have: TN-002.255.062 MN-002.255.060 Problem still remains, can't search for music via USB connected iPhone 6 Plus running 8.1.2. |

435i August 2013 build, can't update. Current s/w:
MN-002.033.002 TN-002.034.001 I currently am using a Samsung Note 3 and everything works to include text messages. Maybe this is one time where I should leave things as they are. Don't need to fix it if it ain't broke. |

Check your iDrive firmware revision. Select Navigation, then options then Software Info. Should say something like NBT_H or NBT_I. If you have NBT_I you have been updated to 2.54.x (or 3.54.x) which is latest. This whole production date thing is an inaccurate way to determine whether a car is eligible. Eligibility is determined by I-Step level which explains why your 2013 car took the update. I believe any NBT car with NBT_G or higher will take the update.

I definitely noticed some new updates in the Nav, including the OPT-cog icon, a Early/Medium/Late warning option for the Forward Collision system, and the media progress bar has been updated with revised/motion graphics. The real improvement was the ability for 3rd party iOS apps to feed metadata to the iDrive. For example, Live365 internet radio app used to either not work (get overriden by the iPod music), or send one set of metadata to the screen and never update. Now, I see track info, album art, etc. which changes with the track. This is good! However, it's one step forward, two steps back. I'd much rather have my album/artist navigation that actually works. The behavior is erratic today. Sometimes it seems to work, and you can select a song, but it never actually plays. Other times, it simply does not work at all. The I-Step update also changed a few other things in the car, including a temporary (not permanent like on the MY2015) indicator in the IP for Heated Steering Wheel Activated. |
