TopGear Car of the Year - 2 winners for us
Family car of the year
320d Touring - Wins! "All you need for 99% of the time is a 320d Touring" and Sports car of the year Yes the M135i wins while beating the new Porsche Boxster! "...The BMW just seems to have more of the things that make up a car that appeals to Top Gear. It's ever-so-slightly humdrum looking, but has the pace to make Supercar owners wince.!! It's one of the best cars BMW makes, and, as it happens, this incredible, improbable, actually very humdrum looking little hatchback turns out to be the TG Sports car of the year...."

If you had a 330d Touring for that 1% alongside your 320d Touring... the 320d would never get driven!

Whatever 330d drivers like to think, the 320D is the BEST ALROUND vehicle BMW make. Proven by sales figures and the motoring press.
At over £6000 extra on the BMW Price List a 330D is hard to justify, bearing in mind also the increased running costs. I have yet to read a motor mag write-up that overall rates the 330D over the 320D! |

If you read the first drive review of the 330d tourer on page 79 you can see that they had not driven the 330d when they gave the reward to the 320d, and if they drove them back to back the result might have been different......

The 320D is always going to be the more sensible and better all-round car. It'll average a good 10mpg more than the 330D driven the same, is cheaper to tax and run and whatnot and will be a little more nimble in the bends due to lower weight.
The 330D is just the "better" car, but not when taken against cost. it's the luxury version. none of us bought a 330D thinking it was the "sensible choice" We bought them because we wanted a 250bhp diesel that'll return 40mpg and because we can

In the real world, you can see why TopGear gave it the 320d, as they are taking into account value for money as well.

You'll get a better discount on a 330d, as they aren't selling so many (I got £4.2k below list price) add to that the excellent auto box you get as standard in the 330d vs £1500 option on 320d, for me makes it a no brainer when you consider the performance IMO. The running costs only make a meaningful difference if you are doing an insane amount of mileage.

Good question. I play them off against one another, seem to always end up at Listers Kings Lynn, they are not local but are miles cheaper than any other dealership I have delt with, Cooper Norwich are a real rip-off.

After trying 3 other dealerships and getting nowhere, went to Cooper Reading on the recommendation of a friend of mine. Went straight to the senior sales manager, told him he had been recommended and that i was ready to order and pay my deposit that day if he could meet my required discount and he came close enough for me to order that day. He beat the other 3 px quotes by £1000 too, so I am happy. BTW I didn't get any discount on the options.

ok, well i would say that is not a comparative 12.5% discount....to what I or Dopper99 got previously.
Usually the discount is applied on the base car + options. Only things like delivery and plates are not discounted. If you add in your options, what does the discount work out as? I got just over 9% on the M135i...

Apparently I got just over £4800 off my 330d; £3k of which went to pay off my finance settlement, the rest discounted on the car. Full price of the car was just under £44k; I got a good part-ex price too (best of 3 dealers I spoke to).

I got 14% off a F31 320d as a cash buyer no hard sell I just told them my best offer and they just matched it. Agreed with Johnbmw6 Coopers Norwich would give me hardly anything off it's prob cos their nearest other dealer is Ipswich so they have captive market.
