N54->B58

Currently have an FBO N54 (minus meth) and looking to trade in for a B58 car. What mods would I need to get similar pull and feel from the B58 in the F30 body?

The best you can do right now is get a JB4 and various supporting mods (dp, meth, etc). You can't flash the b58 yet, so we're limited by the fuel cap. It's very disappointing... I came from the n54 world hoping there would be a flash by now. People are actively working on it, but for now we have to just sit and wait.

there's probably a tune for it already. the question is when do they want to release it.

IMHO don’t get the b58. If you can, get an S55 or shop around for different platform with solid tuning capabilities. Message me if you have any specific questions about the platform.

I have a B58 with JB4/CLDP/intake.

So maybe I'm not as fbo as I thought then because I haven't touched fueling and don't have a backend flash. I have the following :
Jb4, dp, dci, fmic, charge+bov (no hp but holds boost better) and run on 93.

How easily can I get comparable with the b58 given the fueling limitation?

What are your dyno numbers? B58 can get to around 400-450ish "reliably" with meth and PS2 and a lot of troubleshooting with JB4

I've honestly never dynoed. I feel like with meth the b58 will be strong enough. I guess the install is just a little intimidating

But that awful exhaust note from the S55. I'd rather have a sleeper B58 that sounds amazing with as much power that doesn't have the ///M tax.

A JB4 and downpipe will be similar if not slightly more power than a bolt on N54.

On a Dynojet, a stock B58 with the MPPK tune (including the M240), makes around 330whp and 360rwq. A FBO N54 typically makes 380whp and 420wtq. All it takes is a couple simple mods to get the B58 into same power range. More importantly, the B58 sustains it's power nearly to the 7000rpm redline and is far better at managing intake temps. The N54 is choking for air after 5800rpms. That extra sustained power in the B58 will result in a quicker/faster car in 3rd gear and beyond gears. That's a fact.

Most Dynos I've seen posted actually show stock B58 at around 330 WHP. With MPPSK tune for 340/440i it is around 365 WHP. Stock B58 highly underrated.

Coming from an n54 car (6MT RWD 335i) with intake, catless, and jb4 I can say I'm very happy so far with the b58, so much in fact that I've purchased my second one in January. I have the burger intake, jb4, and 5" catted downpipe to a full cg precision cat back. Best sounding car I've probably ever heard. Also plenty fast until the fuel cap can be removed...just some food for thought. Also my car dyno'd at 399 whp and 429 wtq on dynojet

What map and octane was used during the dyno?

All if you guys are bitching and moaning about the flash. You need to remember the N55 as a whole didn't get flash tuning until like 2 years ago. And it has been going in cars since like what? 2011. Give it time. It will come out and now that the F chassis has already been flashed it's only a matter of time until the B58 is unlocked.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. If no one complains then there isn't a sense of urgency for anyone attempting to crack the ecu. We have to keep bringing it up.

I'm feeling more and more confident that the new Supra will give the aftermarket companies the kick in the pants they need to switch focus.

That + the G80 M3 that will use the S58 engine. It really is only a matter of time before it's cracked.

it took over 5 years for the n55 dme to be cracked....im assuming it will take just as long for the b58...

Hey guys. Wanted to update because I pulled the trigger on a 17 f30 b58 and I'm extremely happy with it. The power delivery is strong and incredibly smooth coming from the n54. The red line is higher and you can really feel the additional pull at the upper end of the rpms.

How does the jb4 act on this currently? How smooth is the power delivery compared to stock?
