Hello all, the past few times I've started up my car, I've been getting an odd metallic rattling sound. It defiantly isn't anything pleasant, I'll try to attach a video. Any thoughts.

Well I guess I can't directly upload a video?

Also my car is a 2015 335

I saw metallic rattling and immediately was going to say "normal startup sound on 4-cylinder turbo" but then I got to the part where you said you have a 335i so yeah that's not good.

Uploaded a video, yeah I didn't see much on this from the 335 standpoint

I saw "metallic rattling" and I thought the very common exhaust flap rattle. But that ain't it. That sounds awful. Like bearings are grinding or something.

This started happening to my 13' 335i after my rear bumper was replaced after a minor accident. Still haven't taken it in, and it only seems to happen every once in a while. It disappears when you hear the flap open for the left exhaust pipe.

Doesn't sound good or normal. Take to your dealer. Its under warranty so let them do their job.

So I took to the dealer but they were unable to replicate the problem. It's still there for a couple trim pieces getting replaced, but I'll be keeping an eye on it. I definitely don't think it's normal.

I have the same problem with my newly installed MPE.
It happens randomly but I haven't heard it recently - so maybe it's just something breaking in?
Took it to the dealer and of course they didn't find anything.

I got a 2012 335XI Coupe in July and I have heard the rattling sound by the exhausts as well. Nothing really serious sounding, just sounds like something is a little loose. I'm new to BMW and honestly am not anywhere close to as knowledgeable as others on here in terms of mechanics, but it seems to be common from what I've seen.

If it IS the exhaust rattle then that's "normal" and quite common. But the posted video didn't sound like exhaust rattle.

Exhaust rattle always goes away after warmed up.

Mine rattles but then goes away yes on startup. Even my friends have commented, "Uh dude I think you need that checked" lol. It's embarrassing...did anyone get theirs fixed and find out what it was?
