Installed - ACS Springs on F36 X-Drive

Finally got my ACS springs installed. I have DHP, so I really didn't want to go with coilovers, and was concerned about some of the other spring options affecting the ride quality when coupled with DHP. So far, I'm very happy with the ACS springs. I can tell they are a little stiffer than stock, but barely noticeable (my wife couldn't tell a difference). If anything, they do feel maybe a touch more "bouncy" in 'comfort' mode, and no noticeable change when in 'sport'.

It does look like the front sits just a touch higher than the rear... I'm hoping after they settle that will balance out.

Below are some before and after shots of the car with and without the springs. The first 3 pictures are the before images, and the rest are after. The only change between the shots is the install of the springs (and a car wash ). I do have 10mm front / 15mm rear spacers installed as well in all the shots.

Looks good!

The front could have been slightly lower compared to the rear.

Looks very good, the wheel gap is too large with x-drive.
I've ordered a set of AC Schnitzer springs for my wagon.

The only two places in the States that I could find to import them were Darkside Motoring and TAG Motorsports.

PM sent with pricing info.

First of all, the car looks great and the 4GC logo is very original...but, isn't DHP + XDrive supposed to give you the same ride height as a standard M sport suspension? Reason I ask is because my 4GC without DHP sits lower than yours before you dropped it (at least it looks that way in the pics).

No.

On non-x drive cars the sport suspension drops the car significantly and the DHP drops it an additional 10mm. This does not apply at all to x drive. There is no sport suspension and the DHP doesn't drop the car at all.

So after driving the car for a week, just some additional thoughts:

- In comfort mode, the ride is a bit stiffer, but not bad. Over large ruts / drainage dips, the ride is noticeably stiffer. Very livable, but is taking me a bit to get used to (have to slow down just a bit more on some of the rougher sections). I can tell that the springs are doing the bulk of the work, and the dampers are trying to keep up while in Comfort.

- In Sport mode, the ride is excellent! I actually enjoy driving in Sport even over the rough spots. In hindsight, I would say the OEM springs were too soft for Sport, and thus the dampers were doing the bulk of the work, making things a bit more jarring in the rough. With the ACS springs, the dampers and springs seem perfectly matched, creating an incredible ride. Very sporty, but far from harsh. Indeed, it feels just as planted as my Boxster without the harshness that my Porsche has on rough spots.

- the springs unfortunately did nothing for the brake dive... While I knew it was a long shot, I was hoping it would significantly reduce the dive. If anyone has some solutions to eliminate this (or more specifically, the large rebound after hard braking), I'm all ears!

What about shockware? It's supposed to pair well with stiffer springs, since it increases the damping rates.

And man I love the MG! Less than two weeks from picking up mine

I am definitely a fan of MG ;-). You'll love it!

I have some very rough patches of road on my drive, so I fear shock wear will be too stiff for me - it's why I avoided the H&R springs. But, I haven't looked much into the Dinan Shockwear... Is it completely tailorable for both the sport and comfort settings?

That's a nice drop on this body.

Has anyone else put these springs on their F36 xDrive?

I have the ACS springs on my wagon for the last year and love them. I have had no complaints. I bought mine from AC Schnizter dealer in the US Andreas Hartman - 949 863 0015

Can I get a PM for contact and pricing too? (Also would love a 6-months later update from OP if he's still around)

Thanks!
