Yeah you can change engine parameters.. it is, however, together with safety related options one of those few things I wont touch because you can seriously mess a lot up if you do it wrong.

That's correct, and even better: many of the codes are similar (some are named slightly different but the majority is very much alike). I actually got my info through guys who worked on their F10's

I'm sorry, I have no idea if this will work for the E series as well. The stuff I have been using so far only covered the F series.. for the E series I believe there is different software.

Any idea if turning off the seatbelt chime will disable an airbag? I don't want a passenger to die 'cause it disables everything related to that system.
EDIABAS is included with the e-sys, but I am not sure if it is the same which people use for their E-series.

As far as the seatbelt chime, if it is the same (or similar) on the E series as it is on the F series, then you should not have to worry about that. All safety features like the airbag, abs, dsc, etc etc, are located in different functions. I could technically turn the airbag off but it would be a complete different function. The way it works for the F series (and probably the E as well) is that every option is a function by itself

No problem, I can code whatever you want to have (as long as I know where to find it haha) =)

I actually did Michael's F30 tonight, gave him several options like the ASS remember it's last setting now, I turned off his side markers, did the TPMS, gave him the sport displays (oddly enough he didn't have these?), mirror folding and some more =)

Woww nice! Thx bro ... Will this cable work for a 06 E60 ? And is it the same software? I would like to turn off my drl's so I can leave my angel eyes on during daytime like the lci models. Can i do this with this coding thing?!

I am really not sure if this cable will work with the E-series. It's worth to try, of course.

As for software, that's a bit of a problem. I believe the E-series are coded with a different kind of software, the e-sys software that I am using seems to be capable of only coding the F-series. I believe there is a different software for the E-series but I am unsure which one that is.

Once you have the right software, and a working cable, then I'm positive you will be able to do what you want through coding.

What is your production date?

It might be possible depending on what software you got with your car....

i can explain it you in detail once you get started with this stuff...

You can code it provided you have Lane Departure Warning system in your car.

Has anyone tried to import the gongs/chimes from the F01 7-series? They sound "better" than the F30s, imo.

What are the chances BMW will take note of this and have dealership to check for these changes and void warranty? Or better yet place some kind of a lock\security in software update so these cannot be altered anymore?

I wouldn't be too worried about it. If you claim warranty on something, and they want to deny you warranty based on the coding, they will have to proof that a certain code also actually made it so that it broke your part, so if you delete the corner marking lights, or do something about the folding mirrors, they will never ever be able to void your warranty on the drivetrain, for example. Several coded cars (mostly F10's) have already been at dealerships and all came back without problem. Some of them had error codes generated by doing some coding (that also went away after a while), none of the dealers made an issue out of it. As far as BMW goes, if it is true what I've heard, then BMW knows we're using this software and is aware we're coding our own cars but their response was basically that they didn't care much about it. The only thing I would do, especially if you lease your car, is to keep track of what you change (and keep backups!) so you can revert it back to what it was when your lease ends and the car can be returned like you received it

Yeah, this should be possible to do for all F series. There might be slight differences in the module names but in general it should be the same.

I don't know if this is actually a warranty issue at all.

The things being done with this cable and software are simply selecting items that are available to be selected.
It's not like anything is actually being "modified". The code is already written, and all one is doing is selecting "yes" or "no", is simplest terms.
There isn't any modification of code here.
As Svache has said a couple times, it's not really "coding" that's going on here, just finding certain areas that contain already coded options, and then turning things on or off.
Very cool.

I don't think this has any warranty void concerns.

Your research and work on this are great, and obviously will be very helpful to a lot of us.

There are 2 major things I'd like changed.
1- ASS off by default. Or, remember last setting.
2- Remember last "drive mode" setting, such as 'normal' 'sport', etc..., or "sport" default.

I'm curious if anyone has had any success with asking their dealer to change a few items before picking up their new car?
I'm going to ask my CA if one of the tech's can at least change the 2 things I'm wondering about.
It would be great to know where those parameters reside so that I can tell the tech, in case they will do it for me.

Once you've got it figured out, can you post relevant "coding" info that I could give to the tech?
TIA!

I am also extremely curious if you can have the system remember the last driving setting, e.g. Sport mode. Svache any luck with this yet?
