edmunds and kbb guide for invoice prices

do you guys think Edmunds.com and kbb.com invoice list pricing is accurate or not?

I have a sales person saying they are off and that the numbers are listed below the true sales amount.

in addition the dealership only makes 6% on the entire deal.

can anyone verify this?
if you can please indicate how you know the information.

Had the dealer say the same thing, they are full of shit. Invoice is around 92% of MSRP. Even at invoice, dealers still make money, not a lot, but they are. If you're negotiating a 2014 purchase and it's something on the lot, you should be easily able to get 10% off MSRP, maybe even a little more. With a lot of negotiating, I ordered a 2015 335 for $150 over invoice.

Last time I looked, kbb and maybe edmunds don't show something called MACO and regional advertising fees which together come to about $500 in round figures. Not a big deal anyway. The dealer should be willing to show you the VIR (vehicle inquiry report) on the specific car your interested in. The VIR shows the msrp and invoice exactly as the car is optioned. If they won't show it to you (even email it to you), move on.

If you're around L.A., it's a pretty competitive market. Something like 22 dealers up there, and some of them are really dealing on the 2014's: Valencia BMW, Steve Smith BMW, and Pacific BMW. Work with the Internet Mgr over the phone or by email. I have had personal experience with Robert Grass, Internet Mgr at Valencia, tele 661-288-7166. He's great to work with, a straight shooter. Very big dealership with huge inventory. If the car you're looking for is anywhere around L.A., he should be able to get it for you. In today's market, you should be able to get a 2014 f30 for around 15% off sticker (I've seen some 17% or 18%). Thousands below invoice, before adding in the incentives (check bmwusa.com, click on Sales & Programs for incentives).

thanks guys. I thought so.

would waiting closer to the end of the year be better or will it not matter if it is done now.

I heard there are too many 2014's on the lots.

The Edmunds invoice prices match EXACTLY, to the dollar, the actual invoice price on the car and all its options. My dealer provided me with the wholesale pricing sheet which shows the MSRP and invoice price of the car and all its options, and it matches Edmunds exactly. The only thing Edmunds doesn't show on a lease are the MACO and training fees.

another website you can compare with is truecar, after you config the car you want with options/pkgs, there's a table showing a breakdown of prices.
