But anywho, I wouldn't call it a complete waste. I wanted a slightly louder tone, which I got. My wife actually thinks it's too loud! Would I want it a little louder? sure. but it's the perfect middle ground for someone who wants some audible feedback for spirited driving and keeping the wife happy.
I could agree with that statement.

Dinan authorized dealers MUST follow Dinan instructions and labor estimates. If you go to the Dinan website, it says it takes 7.8 hours to install the springs. I've called a few non-Dinan places, and the most I've heard is $250 installed. But again, I don't want to pay a premium for a Dinan part if the warranty is useless if I don't have it installed at a Dinan authorized place.

What sucks about it? Not loud enough? Sound? Too loud? I'm seriously curious.

Sounds like me. I'm 42 and live in a quiet neighborhood. I want a spirited sound without raising the wrong kind of eyebrows. Can't annoy the wife with it either. I want to enjoy it, not piss people off.

Try to find someone local that has it. I found another member that lives about 10 miles from me and he let me swing by to hear it. It sounded way better in person than all of the youtube videos that are out there. Basically sealed the deal for me once I heard it live.

Well if thats your situation then this muffler definitely makes sense. It adds a nice little noise and deep tone over stock. The reason why I hate it is because for the money it costs I was expecting a transformation, not a small improvement. Its not loud enough for me at all but the sound it produces (when you can hear it) is good.

Funny, I think it sounds better in the videos then in person.

Fwiw, I have the AA exhaust on my F30. Definitely worth it over the m-performance muffler imo. 550-600 gets you a better, louder sound (though hardly loud, it’s really noticeable at low rpms and when you get on it). You also get a noticeable performance increase (at least 10 hp, 15/20 ft-lbs of torque according to my uncalibrated butt dyno).

People here just to like hump m-performance/dinan no matter if the performance/cost ratio is minimal.

Agreed, the circumstances under which I got that M perf exhaust were weird. Normally I would have never gone for it. Dinan is even more overpriced garbage.

I had the a 435i style muffler delete done on my 428i for all of about a day before I couldn't take it, the sound was great but the drone was not bearable. I think it is because that big empty space where the muffler was becomes a "vibration chamber" of sorts and creates a ton of in-cabin drone.

I slapped on a stock 435i muffler... for now... might get a 435i MPE.

I was orignally thinking of doing the 428 to 435 muffler mod but decided against it although I love the look of the double tips on both sides of the car.

Can't wait to see how yours comes out! I am proud to say I still have not had the tip adjusted, maybe this is a good first step in learning to overcome stupid things LOL.

You are a stronger man than me! I am waaaay OCD about certain things, my cars being one of them. I sure hope for the muffler shop's sake my pipes turn out straight. Oh man dont get me started on how far out the tips extend either! I am already stressing about making sure that is perfect too.

My tips just barely peek out past the diffusor, which is perfect to me.

The temptation to get the tip adjusted is strong but I think I'm faring well so far. If I had a day off from work and it wasn't snowing I probably would have done it by now to be honest.

I'm doing the muffler delete because it will sound louder and better with a much nicer tone.

Then I can sell this stupid expensive muffler to the next sucka, LOL
what part is the resonator, and how would i remove it?

It's the next piece back behind the muffler. It's like a 1ft long canister looking thing.

You cut it out and weld in a piece of pipe.

I have a Dinan Exhaust on a 428 and love it. Sounds great and even sounds better with the Dinan Tune ... I was thinking of the M Performance Exhaust but my service advisor reccomended the Dinan and I listened to him and he was right. I am 100 percent satisfied

You guys having exhaust/mod problems for the rear drive now imagine shopping for X-drive mods

I would get a brand name bolt on exhaust for the car but most of them are only for rear wheel.

I believe the big difference between the two for exhaust system is the center pipe fitments. Can anyone confirm this?
