It could affect cooling if vastly damaged but there doesn't seem to be many dents as such. Just that patch of bent fins... Unless it's leaking it will likely be OK. What did he mean by 'cleaned the radiator' as I can't see how he'd bend them like that with just water pressure...
Could it be that stones have gotten through and dented it - and he 'cleaned' as in removed the stones so it's less obvious now that's what caused it?
Looks like stone damage, albeit strange to leave such a uniform mark, it's like a big stone but that wouldnt get past the grill

You could buy a 'radiator comb' and straighten them up.

More the the point of this pic was after your car was cleaned they didn't do a good job at the grill - still dusty/dirty lol

Man the pressure they are using is very high, I saw him sticking that thing right in the grill, I didn't know it would do anything. yes I have a radiator comb but do you think it will be back to normal, do u think warranty will cover it
I am really frustrated as I have a thermostat error read by JB4 and it keeps coming back

probably sprayed it from and angle with pressure washer caused it to bend.
but either way your radiator fins will get bent eventually from rock chip and giant insects while driving on the highway.

does it hinder performance? probably does but its also probably so minor that its barely noticeable. After driving my E90 for about 90,000 km (mostly highway) i found it hard to find a single fin that was not bent around the grill area.

it shouldnt hinder performance unless the radiator is broken. keep an eye on the engine temperature, if it stays average then you're fine.

If you're getting a thermostat error then it may be worth a visit. But that could be merely coincidental to this.

It's more likely he physically knocked the rad with the wash lance.

Go back to them and see what they say

It's from the water hitting the radiator at an angle, a fin comb can straighten them.

I think so, yes it will be from rocks but not like this and especially when I checked it two days before ! sadly I feel the performance is down

I got thermostat error few months ago but I fixed it with dyno tab coolant+ DEI radiator relief. the error was gone in two days but it came back again. i think that was a temporary fix

I believe I was getting the same error from my JB4. It turned out to be a bad tstat heating element. BMW tstat design includes a heating element inside the housing which is supposed to aid in heating the tstat. I had mine replaced under warranty. The JB4 would attempt to delete the code but wasn't successful.

If I remember correctly the error from JB4 was something about "tstat map circuit open". The OBD code was P0597.

Doesn't look good. What's the cost to replace?
