Hi All,

So, the shop the installed my coil overs threw out an idea with the wheels I would really like to install using a square setup of the 437M front wheel only.

I'm sure someone has asked this question, but I cannot find the question asked anywhere or any such discussion anywhere. Can the 9" front wheel work at all corners?

Thoughts?

My car is a 14 F30 x-drive. I am well aware I could go stag with 235/35/19 + 265/30/19, but need to ensure I exhaust all options available to me for purchasing these wheels/tires and ease of future maintenance needs like the rear tires which are a challenge to find in the size indicated above.

four fronts will fit with 235/35/19s

for the front it will be:
8mm LESS clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 18mm

for the rear it will be:
2mm MORE clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 14mm

The front may look like its poking some but since you are going to be lowered it should look great. Search the forum as a few members have these OEM wheels on their f30s

Thanks for the quick reply. I will try to find some photos of this exact setup here in the forum.

I would rather less poke in the rear if I can help it, along with rear tires that are more widely available and also maybe some tire longevity (rotation). I had a 10' 335 with a stag setup which was fantastic to look at of course but nothing wore even between front and rear.

Any advantages to stag on AWD or you think AWD pretty much sums up any handling gains on it's own?

Since these are M3 wheels to begin with, any width I wanted in the rear I'm sure will be enough on 9".

Staggered is useless on AWD I find, it's just for looks. For AWD, it benefits more from a squared setup.

I had heard this about AWD and squared setups as well, so this is a bit more confirmation on that. Ok, great. Thanks a mill!

It depends on the awd system
On a GTR and Porsche , which are rwd biased the larger rear tire will help handling and traction.
On a symmetrical awd ala Subaru, square setups tend to work better than staggered

Doing pretty much the way you are thinking with square 437 fronts. Am however doing 245/35 all around. I'll post back in a few days how it goes.

If you are worried about the rear "poke" don't be. It's really hard to compare pictures to what it looks like standing next to the car. The fit is perfect IMO and I was very concerned about it.



The attempt here was to take the pic on the same plane as the flat part of the fender.

Are you suggesting just go with the OEM setup of 437Ms? If so I'm leaning that way now because it's easier to find. Plus if in gonna go I should just go all the way.

OEM wheels, but the M3/4 tires are too big. I have 235/35 and 265/30-19 PSS. H&R sport springs.

I'm conflicted on those M3/M4 wheels. Some seem to think they can me mounted, and have posted photos which look fantastic. There is a mineral gray 435 with the 437ms running 235/40/19 - 265/35/19. I found a white 435 with the same setup using 225 with the height the same as mentioned above.

I'm lowered with coil overs, which I understand helps the situation?? I wish I could see an example in person. I've seen some really good photos at this point from the important angles of concern for a wheel that is just too big. The more I look at it Im either deceiving myself or it didn't look out of place to run those 437s, but maybe not at a stock ride height.

I can't find an OEM 3 series wheel I really like that will compliment the lowered look I have while remaining relatively stock with some aggression, so I figure 437 is best as long as it fits within acceptable limits.

I wish I knew if the 235/40 265/35-19 was a safe fit on this setup. I'd make the switch.
