I don't know what ISTA/P version I have. Only dealer can tell, unless I get into a service menu. All I know per version is that it is a 02/2013 build. Maybe they installed ISTA/P dated 02/2013.

A slightly related issue - can I manually label my radio stations?
Now I get a strange combination of radio call letters and random words (part of the title of the current show?) to label them, and can't figure out how to do better.

FYI, issue still remains. Fix does not stick. Need software update.

Updating to ISTA/P 2.52.4 from pre 2.49 seems to have fixed the problem.

What issue? Make sure you're setting the presets correctly. They don't remember that station you're tuned to, they remember what's shown on the iDrive screen. That can be anything from a radio station to a phone number to a map destination. If in doubt consult your navigation and entertainment manual.

Well after I turn off my car and my car goes to sleep mode and I turn my car back on, the radio goes back to my FM settings with all stations as opposed to my presets that I left off at. |

HUD has nothing to do with setting the presets. What you have to wrap your head around is that the presets aren't for radio stations, they're for iDrive. They can be assigned to radio stations, but they can be assigned to other tasks as well. One naturally assumes that the presets are for the radio, since they're located on the radio, but that's not the case. Also, the scroll on the steering wheel doesn't scroll through presets, it scrolls through any and all radio stations that are within range.

I am not talking about the physical preset 1-8 buttons on the dash. I am talking about the idrive radio presets. Will go in to more detail tomorrow |

Forget about the physical 1-8 preset buttons on the dash as I am not talking about those. On my iDrive Nav screen, I go to Media. It will then show me which mode of media I want to be in. Either the Presets, FM, AM, Sat Radio, USB, etc. I select Presets. Well after I select Presets on the iDrive screen, I can now scroll through my favorite radio presets using my steering wheel thumb scroll and it will either show up on the HUD screen or in the small dash screen in-between the speedometer/odometer. On all of my previous BMW's, when I exit the car and come back again, I can still scroll through my presets using the thumb scroll because it just leaves off on where I left it. On my new 209 M4, when I come back to it, instead of my presets that show up, it always reverts back to the full FM channels list. I'm now on my 13th BMW and this M4 is the only one that is like this. Anybody have a fix?

Me too
I am having a very similar issue
I have a 2018 330d Mosport f31 with very high spec including HUD and media pro. I am uk based so it’s a uk car I have 8 or so saved, or favourite, stations and using the steering wheel mini wheel always remembered that I was in the saved area no matter how long I left the car unattended and locked. Once back in the driving seat rotating the wheel or pushing the “mode” button on the steering wheel either scrolled through my saved stations or confirmed I was in “saved stations” in the HUD. I had an issue that the maps were not updating “over the air” and asked the supplying dealer to look at this at first service. This was reported as sorted when I collected the car. However all my settings in the radio had gone back to default - but strangely all other car settings remained unchanged including Bluetooth connection to my phone. I am yet to confirm if the maps will indeed update over the air as there has not been another release yet. After collecting the car and Re saving all my radio stations etc I started to notice the occasional slip into the full radio channel list when wheel is rotated and when mode is pressed it will show that my current selection is DAB (this is a digital audio broadcast band that is available in uk - for our American friends). It will still be tuned to the actual radio station I left it on - but shows this station in the full list of available stations in the DAB band in alphabetical order- this could be hundreds of stations at any one time. Unfortunately DAB is the selection AFTER “saved stations” in the cycle and requires me pressing the mode button 5 or 6 times to get back to ‘saved stations” I agree this is most frustrating. My problem seems to be more random than only happening when I leave the car and return to find the issue present. It can even happen on a long drive - I go to select a different station on the rotary wheel and find I am in the full DAB List and not my saved list. I am going to try allocating one of my short cut presets to saved stations so that a quick press of that shortcut will take me straight back to my preferred list. I do hope this bug will be fixed by a software update. |

Did this problem ever get solved? I had a software update from bmw a month or so ago and I’ve been having the same issue. Where the wheel on the steering wheel would normally just scroll through my saved stations it now just scrolls through fm even though I’ve been on the presets section. The quick fix for me is to click the radio button on my centre console and then it immediately goes back to the presets mode.
